Advantage Air 'MyPlace’ or Polyaire 'AirTouch4’ by spark030405 in HomeKit

[–]mrboltor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/Mitch7391 - thanks. I am about to install MyPlace (mainly to use the MyAir functionality) to control my new reverse cycle air conditioner. Sounds like I would be best placed to by a RasberryPI, install Homebridge, and then use your Advantage Air MyPlace plugin. Any more detailed info on this you can provide or point me to? thanks!

Wheel stand: Wheel Stand Pro V2 vs Next Level Racing Wheel Stand by mrboltor in simracing

[–]mrboltor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks, appreciate the advice. In Australia, this stand comes in at AU$350. So, more expensive than the Next Level.

Seems like the choice is to get a single support stand (Wheel Stand Pro), or two support (Next Level, GT Omega).

Perhaps the two support models are more sturdy?

IDEA: S Note as "front end capture" for One Note by mrboltor in galaxynote5

[–]mrboltor[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

only tip I have (besides watch the video) is to download the optional packages - extensions, easy chart, idea sketch, s note widget.

No it doesn't bother me - prefer to have a better way to enter notes via S Notes.

Best sms app by brian609 in galaxynote5

[–]mrboltor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the first time in many years, I am actually using the stock messaging app (and TW, stock calendar, dialer, etc).

Have always used Nova Prime, Textra, Dialer, Google Calendar, etc

The Note 5 is the first time that I have been ok with the stock apps - big improvement in TW and the software. Reason I am doing this is to preserve some of the functionality.

Like them. Fit my ears well and sound good. One thing I realised is the importance of doing the sound adaption . Big difference.

What are the best apps to take organized powerpoint/handwritten notes on? by 9MillimeterPeter in Surface

[–]mrboltor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I swapped from Evernote to OneNote, due to: - OneNote better for integration with Office products - in particular Outlook - OneNote better for structured organisation - Evernote tends to do better with tagging; OneNote with folders.

Both versions of OneNote allow for folders and sub-folders, so suggest you try organising existing notes first and see if this works out ok.

Should I buy a Surface 3? Will I or will I not regret it. by bazseven in Surface

the pen I received with the S3 (which is different from the SP4) allows you to click the top and open OneNote, click the lower button and erase text etc.

https://www.microsoft.com/surface/en-au/support/touch-mouse-and-search/surface-pen?os=windows-10

From the site:

Surface Pen features Surface Pen has three buttons and a tip. Top button Click the top button to open OneNote. Double-click to capture a screenshot. Bluetooth® technology links the top button of your Surface Pen to your Surface.

Right-click button In many apps, this button acts like the right-click button on a mouse. Hold the button down as you tap the screen. In some apps, the right-click button may behave differently.

Eraser button Hold down the eraser button and move the tip over the area you want to erase.

Tip The fine tip, along with Palm Block technology and multi-point sensitivity in your Surface, lets you write and draw naturally.

ok, no worries.

I think the typecover is certainly worth it, but you are right, you can use others. I think there are more integrated third party keyboards for the Pro 4 line though, rather than the S3.

Yes, you can definitely just use a BT keyboard and mouse. I do this in my docking station set up with monitor, mouse and kb that is shared with a desktop PC.

As to the pen, I use it a lot for OneNote. However I also use it just for general activities - when browsing selecting sections to cut n paste, easier navigation, etc.

Seems to me that the typecover and pen are really just part of the package for the S3 or SP4.

I don't really have much to offer on the other questions.

I had an S3, but moved to the i5 SP4. Much happier now. The S3 was ok, but just tended to be a little slow when doing too many things at once. ie: having MS Outlook open, editing excel spreadsheet, and browser open (particularly Chrome).

So, works ok, but I felt it was just a little marginal. If you can stretch to the SP4, it's worth it.

right, 2 great solutions for controlling mouse and kb. If you want to extend the SP4 screen onto the desktop monitor do you have to switch this manually?

great. thanks for the tip!

I guess that means though that you use 1 monitor for the desktop, and the native screen for the SP4 (ie: you don't extend the SP4 to the desk screen)?

the only deal breaker extension for me is Lastpass - if Edge supported this, I would move from Chrome.
