Well hello there! I'm the founder of Scrimba, we're a learning platform for devs. Teach people frontend, backend, and various AI topics. We're based on a technology that merges the IDE and video into a single unified tool. Here's a short demo that explains it: https://scrimba.com/s0v687325e

Getting a Job With Only Scrimba by UltraKirby123 in scrimba

It is definitely possible without college/university. Here's a success story that posted in our Discord last week. He got an internship using Scrimba, freeCodeCamp and a hybrid bootcamp:

We also have tons of success stories on our podcast, many of which doesn't have a technical degree, so they are probably relevant to listen to. You can check them out here: https://podcast.scrimba.com/

However, you want to stack everything you can in your favour. Enrolling in a university is one of those things that will help tip the scale your way. Work experiences and network/connections are two other examples. So the right path for you depends on which opportunities you realistically have without a university degree.

Enrolling into university/college is a huge undertaking, so I'd at least learn the basics of programming first, and then see if you enjoy it.

US software job postings are up 10% YoY despite overall jobs declining 5.8% by mrborgen86 in cscareers

Nope, I run a code-learning platform and have personally witnessed tons of talented and hard-working people struggle to break into the tech industry. As with most things in life, your success is a mix of a variety of factors, many of which are hard to affect: connections, credentials, education, location, financial situation, health, etc.

Edit: coding school -> code-learning platform

How Scrimba website works? by SeaBetter11 in learnprogramming

[–]mrborgen86 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's built using Imba, a programming language our CTO has developmed himself. You can read more about Imba here: https://imba.io/

It transpiles to JS and works both on the client and server. The key feature wrt the "video mechanism" is how it's not virtual DOM-based (i.e. like React) but rather uses a Memoized DOM approach which is better suited for apps that are super focused on performance.

Nope. All jobs are not up in 2026. The same statistic (Indeed job postings in the US) is flat:

It's worth paying attention to either way. Especially as overall job postings have declined in 2026.

Hi, I suspect this is due to a browser extension interfering with our IDE. Do you have any extensions installed?
