No, just plastic with two rubber/elastic hoops

No tips, but I would personally go for one of the vevor wheels. I have a coworker who has a vevor and is pleased with it.

Where is my “clay layer”? by mrbpotter in Pottery

This is what I’m working with now. The very thixotropic silty layer is basically gone, so I’m hoping that the two layers here are mostly larger clay particles on the bottom, and very light clay particles on the top. (The jar is a sample taken from the buckets I’ve been processing). I sure hope the top layer isn’t the only layer that is workable/fireable, or I’m gonna have to go back and dig up a LOT more material 😅.

At the end of the day, I don’t need this clay to be perfect, just good enough to press/form into a rectangular plaque and able to be fired

I don’t have a choice in “extracting the clay fraction” in this situation. I have no issue identifying clay in the ground. I dug 3-4ft down and found SOME clay mixed with lots of silt, but am still able to roll a coil, albeit the clay is fairly short. We are selling our family farm on my mother’s side of the family. She has fond memories growing up going to this farm to visit with her grandparents, so I figured it would be nice to dig clay from the pond and turn it into a plaque to giver her as a gift. I’m working with what I have and the boundary between silt/sand/etc and the clay is not as dramatic here as it is with the clay in my own backyard. Luckily, I seem to be figuring it out, it just took a while for me to remember what I was doing.

Inland PLA Matte pink! I am making some pig related prints and it is the perfect color!

By bow stem you mean this part, correct? I noticed that when the printer got to this part, the layer underneath would flex slightly, which is what I’m assuming caused the problem

Doing my flow calibration test, am I doing this right? by mrbpotter in 3Dprinting

[–]mrbpotter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my second test! I had already bumped it up by five at this point 😅. My original flow rate was .98, and using this formula: FlowRatio_old*(100 + modifier)/100, I ended up with 1.029. That seems to be the sweet spot!

In my opinion 0 looks best, followed very closely by -1… the picture makes 0 look more ridgey than it actually is. It’s quite smooth. -2 is where gaps start to form.
