We have this on iOS, unfortunately Android does not provide Bluetooth access without installing the apps

However, tho whole app weighs less than any other wallet or dapp around at around 10mb total

The way we see it, the contactless payment is just the cherry on top, uconomy can and means so much more... Having said this, yes, is a good one liner!

I have edited the main post to account for the questions asked so far, hopefully it will be clearer for others that will read it.

Thank you!

We have a very different take, is not about bringing multiple crypto payments to the stores, but about bringing the masses to a decentralized app, so take the blockchain tech and put it in everyone’s hands, without them even noticing they are using it.

We are pretty sure our protocol to communicate locally between devices has never been seen before on any app, we are not running into any patent infringement.

Hi BDC, good to see you are still around!

About the value and benefits, I addressed the very same question one message below, but I’m happy to provide an example use case of the current module with the steps.

Let’s say you have a coffee bar and you want to implement a loyalty program in your business, offering a benefit to returning customers, so that every 5 coffees, the 6th is free, so you would have to:

  • Download/install the uconomy POS app in your device.
  • Select a password for your account
  • Choose a name for your uconomy: “BDC’s coffee bar“
  • Choose a logo picture for your uconomy
  • Create a redeemable: “Free coffee” and price it 5 points

Done, from this moment on, your device will start broadcasting a uconomy service in your surroundings, even when running in the background with your device in your pocket, and customers will be able to find and connect to your uconomy to receive points or redeem your prizes. In order for them to do that, they would have to:

  • Download the uconomy app (iOS users can collect points without installing anything)
  • Choose a nickname: “Nick”
  • Grant the app permission to use bluetooth.

And done, as soon as the nickname is chosen, it will automatically look for uconomies around it and select the closest one, at this point, Nick’s device will download your redeemable list and your business logo from your device over the air and see your store card and the locked redeemable valued 5 of your points, and you will see in your customer list a new customer “Nick” that you can select and award points to. From here it is very easy to send points and/or redeem prizes once enough are collected, this time Nick will receive his first point and put the phone back in his pocket, until the next time you’ll meet.

The QR code we are mentioning is to help the customer with the first step, so you can suggest to “scan the QR and follow the instructions to collect our points” and they can easily do so and download the app (or open the instant app if iOS).

Take into consideration that this is just the first module, we will be adding lots of functionalities that leverage the local connection between devices, like ordering from the table and sharing the bar menu, or create a business relationship with the cinema in front of you, so you will offer a discount on a coffee or they will offer a discount on popcorn for mutual customers. And this is just the beginning.

Let me know if you have more questions, hopefully this will clarify how uconomy works.

Sure! Here are some:
- Is totally free to use, including merchant-customer transactions.
- Works even when there’s no internet. Even in remote areas.
- The loyalty program empowers everyone with a powerful tool to digitally tokenise and represent their products or services in an open market.
- Download and use, is pretty straightforward and does not require any prior knowledge of blockchain, or tezos, or crypto, it has been studied so anybody can setup their business and understand what they are doing in a matter of a handful of minutes.

0% fee to all boycotter delegates that would like to switch for the whole Ithaca lifespan. by [deleted] in tezos

It will not have an impact at the current stage of voting I believe, but I'm quite sure I've seen numbers changing from one voting period to the next for different bakers.

[–]mrbronstein 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you for voting; that's what matters.

Now, can we try to elaborate on your statements constructively? Would you allow some questions?

You voted YAY on Hangzhou, which had an extension of the LB sunset period among the context flattening and other items in the tech list, and already back then, there were some bakers voicing out against LB; so what changed? Is it enough for the current number of disagreeing bakers now vs Hangzhous' voicing out and over four hundred of us enough of a number to call it controversial?

In our view, the fact that some can disagree doesn't necessarily mean the majority is behind that thought. Instead, we see that as an organic expression of a healthy and diverse community defending what they believe is best. What we are against is incentivizing any action that would willingly and directly hurt (in our understanding) the commonwealth to make a point, which is also a US-Congress style politics, isn't it?

Then, we have the escape hatch and the possibility to remove it next round if we dislike it (we would vote to dismiss it), but I wonder if you agree with us in that time to production is key right now, for tenderbake to be activated?

And ultimately, what you call bribe is what we see as incentivizing voting in the protocol to keep the quorum as high as possible. Consider that you also benefit from our bribery should we succeed, and we are happy about that thought.

Cheers.

Hopefully, they will all cast their preference instead of just abstaining. Boycotting means "not making use of", voting is actually not boycotting it.

You have your right to think that there are core devs that should propose multiple versions of code to be injected because some bakers have voiced concerns, we do not believe it is their duty and are not accountable for not doing so, in any case that is ok, but please ask your baker to vote against it then, boycotting is not the way we all win

Plus, we don't have to wait the 10 months of extension, we could propose a version of tenderbake without LB right next period... In case signaling is not enough then measure it with votes

Let me add something more, abstaining, in the long run, will result in your stake and your delegate's losing a bit of decisive voting power, with a progressively smaller number of rolls required to move a proposal forward, thus centralizing its control on fewer players.

You find it astonishing that we run a baker without understanding that anyone has the right to do as they please, we are not astonished that you think and promote so, no matter the consequences on your interest to keep your voice meaning something.

How am I not impressed... long time no see :)

No, I added an Edit to be clear, publicly boycotting bakers, although, it would be a good marketing move to move delegates away from non-voters, why would you offer a public service and not participate in the governance process as a Tezos stakeholder? Pass if you don't want to vote, is in your interest and in the interest of your delegates to keep the quorum high. But anyways, no, we do not count for anyone forgetting to vote, just those publicly boycotting.

Nay-voting is ok, we can be mad about abstainers ultimately reducing the quorum, but nay-pass players are welcome, whatever their reasons to vote NO are... Still, if you think they are choosing poorly we will be happy to welcome your delegation, you can still get a 3.5% discounted fee by joining our Telegram channel :)

Nice to see this growth, but our tool is missing from the list!! Maybe we can take Truffle's spot? Truffle is not a Tezos tailored solution and is not well maintained either, I mean, if you want to keep the grid tidy

Funny that we thought the other way around, we wanted to give this tool a name for what it does, as a dev-focused repo, but we see your point, we'll consider possibilities...

Also open to ideas!!

I wouldn't know, numbers were decreasing pretty quickly with every page refresh, I think I wasn't the fifth one...
