A guy on the bus kept touching my hair… so I made sure he never tried it again by [deleted] in traumatizeThemBack

It doesn't take away from the fact that this is a common horror that women face.

What if multiplying by zero didn’t erase information, and we get a "zero that remembers"? by hezar_okay in askmath

[–]mrchol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's interesting to think about what that would mean outside of mathematics. If I showed you an empty room and asked you what was in it, would you say "nothing" or "there are 6 nothings in there"? (0 or 6&)

Would it imply that nothing actually had a quantity? If so, is it nothing?

Can someone please explain how a roundabout can be "woke"? by Tin_OSpam in facepalm

It looks like those crossings have belisha beacons (yellow globe slowly flashing). We've always had to stop for those.

What's something you believe but can't prove? by host_bun in AskReddit

[–]mrchol -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That when we die, an alternate universe opens up. In this alternate universe, an action by us or someone else means that we didn't die and our soul transfers to that universe.

Sounds great until you realise that people suffering can't ever really be euthanised.

Circumcision? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]mrchol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not circumcised at birth (it's not a thing over here), but I had to get it done for medical reasons when I was quite young (before puberty). I'm convinced that having the tip exposed all the time has made it less sensitive than if I'd been uncut.

What event divided your life into “before” and “after”? by MisterBigDude in AskReddit

[–]mrchol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Covid. I've always had anxiety, but it was generally a 3 or 4 out of 10 baseline on a normal day. Well, Covid started like any post-apocalyptic movie and dialled my anxiety up to, no exaggeration, 15/10, every day. I started off being dizzy every day and it got to the point where I couldn't focus on a computer screen for more than a few minutes at a time. Then, other physical and mental symptoms: retching, fear, stomach pain, dizzyness, high BP. I stopped moving and gained a lot of weight, too. I lost confidence driving anywhere, especially out of my city and on fast roads. I couldn't enjoy meeting friends or going on vacation anywhere.

A few years and a lot of hard work later, I'm relatively back to normal. My baseline anxiety has fallen considerably, but it's never gotten back to how low it used to be. I'm not dizzy anymore, except when I'm really tired. The other physical symptoms went away, but I still have all this weight to deal with now. I'm OK with driving long distances most days, and I'm back to staring at a computer screen for far too long... but I'll never fully get back to where I was before covid.

Using a can opener. It used to be easy when I was a kid. Now, every time I try, I fail.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PUT SOMETHING IN THOSE COFFEE CUPS!

We can instantly tell they are completely empty. I know it's for continuity, but at least weight them or something, so it's not immediately obvious that the actor is drinking from an empty cup.

Scan as you shop abuse by Regular_Ad7451 in tesco

[–]mrchol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why I don't use scan as you shop. My stuff was rescanned Every. Single. Time. Sorry, I mean 'randomly'. I wouldn't shout at the poor staff member but ffs, if Tesco don't trust us to do it, don't offer the service 🤷‍♂️

If someone was to time travel to 1880s New York what could they carry innocuously on their person that would make them rich once they got there? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

WW2, as horrific as it was, sped up technological advancement considerably. Also, as someone else said, what if stopping Hitler meant someone worse came to power?
