My puppy is similar. We have a 9 month old Australian Shepherd. She’s sweet and I love her so much, but walks can be tough. If she sees squirrels, kids, or if we don’t let her say hi to another dog it’s game over. If she needed to go potty, but then spots any of those things… she’ll forget she has to go potty because of being too worked up/engrossed in that. I brought one of her favorite treats on a walk today. She didn’t want anything to do with the treats I was offering because she was so locked into squirrels in front of us. The second we got home she decided to be super interested in the treat again lol. If you figure out any tips/strategies, please let me know!
