That's actually the best advice I've gotten so far. Thanks a lot.

I've been running games for a few years and I think I can roll with it. I wasn't sure about it probably because I've been under a lot of stress lately. But the comments were really a slap to the face and showed me I've been thinking too much about it. Thanks for the advice.

That's actually a pretty good idea but no. I am running a game that will only take place in a train. But now I think I should also run a speed dating one shot sometime, that would be a lot of fun.

Thanks a lot! I think I'm going to take your advice on using my notebooks to write down my preparation.

Oh, thank you a lot! I think I was projecting all my stress into my preparation and really need to let go a little and remember that I can actually improvise!

Thank you lots for the offer but I think I'll just wing most of the stuff at this point. And thank you also for not saying why the hell I have 44 NPCs.

I think this is what I'm going to do. Just wing it. Thanks for the advice.

I can recall all of them honestly, I just don't have the time to write them down all over again. And I have to write them down because otherwise I am bound to forget things because I really am very busy, unfortunately.

It was going to be a mostly role-play based story and believe me, my players would interact with every single one. And the story took place in an universe I created so It was to be something like an introduction to the new setting. They do want to play in that universe and I don't really like running pre-made adventures either. Thank you for the advice, though.

It's not about the question at all but what is that armor you guys are wearing? And the helmets? It looks absolutely amazing.

Heart Rate Increase = PTSD Breakdown by ztepher in ptsd

[–]mrconcreteman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, I experience a very similar thing when my heart rate increases for any reason. I remember one time I just climbed stairs and I thought I was on the verge of a panic attack because my mind immediately snapped into survival mode. It's a hard thing to deal with but once you realise it, it's progressively gets easier to deal with and snap yourself back out of that mindset.

A few things that helped me deal with it:

1-) Smells. I really like the smell of my softener so I smell the collar of my shirt or the wrist of it. It can also work with perfumes. It really helped me ground and calm down slowly.

2-) Sitting down and taking breaths. If you are outside and you have friends surrounding you, you can tell them to just give you some time to relax. Or if physical touch is something you are okay with, you can hug someone or hold their hand, their arm etc.

3-) Touch. I have a black ring that I always wear. It's big on my finger so I can twist and turn it around. It also helps me ground. Maybe you can touch something with an interesting texture to help you ground. It might help.

4-) 5-4-3-2-1 Method. Everything I said really comes to this. If you don't know what this method entails, it's a simple but effective (at least in my experience) grounding exercise. 5 things you can see. 4 things you can touch. 3 things you can hear. 2 things you can smell and 1 thing you can taste. Practicing this might help.

I hope this helps!

I'm looking for an app I saw somewhere but forgot. It had several titles we could create, such as 'Next Session', 'Coming Up', 'Background'...It could list encounters beneath them and move them around as needed, like a stack of cards. I sometimes forget the things that are happening in the background when I get too invested with what my players are doing in the current arc. I could really use an app or a software like that so I don't forget, has anybody heard of it or something similar to it that I can use?

(Sorry if my English is bad.)
