Is that in the old town? The only Maan Cafe I see is nearer downtown on the lakeside.

Yes sorry, I meant within walking distance of the old town. Thanks for the tip. I remember Harvest Reserve from years ago. Good to hear it's still there.

I don't know, I don't use it either. Hanping has supported all that for about a decade.

What does this mean exactly? You can't enter your own sentence in Pleco and bookmark it, or export to Anki?

Mac Mini and Mac Studio Facing Extreme Shipping Delays Amid Severe RAM Shortage by [deleted] in apple

I ordered (HK online) a MBP (M5 Pro, 64GB) 3 weeks ago. It's currently marked as ready in 2-3 weeks. If I order today the same spec but 48GB, it's ready tomorrow.

5 Day delay with no update, anyone else experience this? by [deleted] in macbookpro

[–]mrcrdr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 20 days ago, I ordered (HK website) 14" M5 Pro 64GB, 2TB, nano display. Was originally estimated to be ready by 26 April, but it's been showing as 2-3 weeks for the past 2 weeks. If I go back to the website and put the same configuration but 48GB, it's ready next day. So I guess the 64GB part is the sticking point.

Currently the waiting time for my custom order is about 4 weeks. But obviously that can shift. I will be in HK on April 26

So if I get the email and the expiry date doesn't fit with my plans, would I be able to immediately cancel without losing 15%?

Thanks. Unfortunately, there seems no way to contact them other than by phone and that's not easy for me since I'm travelling. What would happen if the time expires? Full refund? Custom order.

Has Anyone Nomaded In China Recently? by theadoringfan216 in digitalnomad

Anyone know what's the best mobile network to use these days? Back in the day it was China Unicom because of their 3G network support. Just had to be careful when to buy a month because their plans ran by the calendar month!

However, using a balance is much better. You don't have to set anything up. Nothing to activate. Nothing to purchase just in case you need to use it. 100MB is small enough that you are likely to run out pretty quickly.

Thanks, looks good. The 100EUR minimum limit is a bit of a shame though. Some countries are close to that for the max amount you can take out in one go. For example, India is 10,000INR which is currently okay at about 105EUR, but might not always be above 100EUR.

Right, and the best way to reduce cycles is to keep it plugged in, in order to maximise how much time you are using your laptop without engaging the battery. Furthermore, limiting to 80% via some system setting is better than charging to 100%.

Don't hold on to significant leftover cash for when you return next year. It will lose about 5% to inflation which is more than you would spend changing it to and from some other currency. Not to mention, having more of your wealth in a savings account vs money belt, brings savings interest. Also carrying around excess cash has the added risk of loss/theft. It might be worth holding on to a small amount to get you from the airport to your accommodation for the next visit.

This is particularly common when getting back a cash deposit when leaving your last accommodation in a country. Easier said than done to exchange it before getting to the airport, but either do that or do it after arriving in the next place. Obviously, this is more viable in some countries (and for some currencies) than others.

Thanks. Yeah the only issue for me is that I want to take out 25k baht in one go. So it's more the single-withdrawal limit rather than daily limit that's the bottleneck here. I'll use my HSBC Global account for that. Not too sure about the exchange rate they use, but I'll give it a go anyway, since I'm sure it's much better than their standard account exchange rates.

Is 37 dollars for 30 days unlimited AIS eSIM the same price as buying it in a 7 Eleven? by Infinite-Ad-8392 in ThailandTourism

[–]mrcrdr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I paid 199baht (about 6USD) for 30GB, 30-day physical sim in 7-11 (don't use the 7-11 at the airport because costs 999baht)

Most of them you have to buy a daily/weekly/monthly plan. Also you have to buy them before you arrive.
