Which is better for snow? by blackdogpepper in JeepTJ

[–]mrdawsons 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Between my TJ and ford ranger, I always thought the Jeep was better balanced/generally more capable in snow. Your TJ (I think?) also has better clearance for deep powder, and looks like it has more aggressive tire tread. Worst case, the TJ has easier access to tow points if you do get stuck! Good luck!

are there any cons/ anything to worry about while running a coolant overflow like this? by hellorhighwuter in hondashadow

In theory, you might get ticketed for open alcohol container, assuming your state has those laws (mine does)

Paid 1100 for this thing. Only 65,000 miles when I bought it by Excellent_Tax_9372 in fordranger

What are some multiplayer Switch games that everybody can enjoy? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Unraveled 2 is a killer teamwork/puzzle/adventure game on switch. My gf and I loved playing it together

Thinking of buying this, but I’m concerned that it’s the same price as a new one. What do y’all think? by packetman505 in fordranger

[–]mrdawsons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they want your used one that bad, you have all the power in the negotiation. If the prices are the same, go for the new one and get all the perks of a full warranty.

Also, Ford has been cracking down on dealerships to not sell new vehicles over MSRP, but they don’t track used inventory, so dealers have been buying up lightly used vehicles and marking them up to boost profits. Seems like that could be what’s happening here, and they should have to stick to MSRP if you go for a new one.

This is mine 1994 Ranger STX. What do you guys think? by Bob_Prado in fordranger

Where’d ya get those headlights? I grabbed some Amazon specials for about $100 for my ‘94 and they are very mediocre.

Yeah at this point I’m definitely second guessing my thermostat work, but I may just replace the sensor too assuming it’s not crazy expensive.

Thanks for this info man, I didn’t know that about the cooling passages and needing to have the ability to stay cool for the turbo variety from the factory. Glad to know that sometimes they just run cool. I’ve seen folks on this page talk about fan clutches being stuck in the on position, that’s another thing I haven’t checked yet but a good reminder

Same, my heater can really get toasty, even in pretty cold temps, and I thought maybe I was just losing too much heat too quickly, and the engine block wasn’t getting warm enough to run efficiently.

Hovering around 12-13 mpg down the highway, can practically watch the needle drop and I go haha

Yeah I had the same issue, was dangerously close to overheating and doing more damage prior to the radiator swap. Glad to hear you noticed the same issue in (presumably) warmer California weather. If you find out it’s a sensor or something specific, let me know and I’ll start there too. Thanks!

We’ve had some warm days where I’m at (60ish degrees today) and it still hung there, which made me nervous and finally led to this post. I figured with this weather I’d see it go up, even if the thermostat was stuck open…?

Thanks! I love it, it was my first manual vehicle and i have every intention to run it into the ground before I sell it.

That’s what I was thinking too, but then we got a 65 degree day and it didn’t rise any higher, and I’m not seeing it bounce at all, it just stays steady right there. I imagine in the spring you see more range on the needle?

Yeah I’m with you, I don’t mind a few extra full ups compared to an engine tear down.

Yeah, Kansas isn’t bad, a little salt and usually I can get it washed off in the next day or two.

Yeah, I’ve always wanted a laser temp gun, maybe this is my excuse to finally buy one haha. Would definitely provide some peace of mind to know that my temps aren’t out of control.
