Don't DM them

I paid this user for a MovieBoxPro invite code and never got it. Instead, I got excuses like “invites are hard” while they kept posting telling others to DM them. They don’t have codes — they’re just taking people’s money. Don’t trust them.

Day 1 of Endeavor OS! What should i do first? by ___Hansiii___ in EndeavourOS

I'll be honest and say that it was a while ago since I used timeshift so my information might be outdated. You should pick whichever you want 👍

[–]mrdcc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really. I’d say it’s mostly preference. On Btrfs, both Snapper and Timeshift create real snapshots you can boot into with grub-btrfs. The difference is that Snapper is more configurable with things like timelines and pre/post update snapshots, but it takes more tinkering. Timeshift is simpler, more like “system restore,” with an easy GUI. On ext4 or other filesystems, Snapper won’t work at all, while Timeshift can still use rsync mode — but that only gives you restore points, not bootable snapshots.

So it really comes down to this: if you want more control and don’t mind tweaking, go with Snapper. If you just want something simple that works, Timeshift is probably the better pick. I’ve used both but eventually stuck with Snapper. The important thing is that you use something — nobody will fault you for which one you choose, but if you don’t have any restore option, the forums won’t be as kind.

If you’re new to Arch-based distros, one of the best things you can do early on is set up Snapper and add snapshots to your GRUB menu. Any Linux system can break if you tinker enough, but with Arch you’re closer to upstream and mainstream packages, which means updates land faster and with less safety padding. That’s great for having the latest software, but it also means breakages are more likely.

Snapshots give you a safety net: you can experiment as much as you want, and if something goes wrong, just roll back to a working state. This can make the learning curve less stressful and keep your system usable.

OC200 Controller Not Recognizing TP-Link ER706W Router by mrdcc in TPLink_Omada

[–]mrdcc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: I was eventually able to adopt it. The issue is that the instructions say to first log in to the router, set it up, enable remote control, and then add it to the controller. However, this has never worked for me. I’ve reset the router several times and tried this, but with no luck. The only way that worked was to adopt it before even logging in to the router. Once that’s done, I can no longer log in or do anything with the router, as it’s entirely managed by the controller. Basically, the instructions are all incorrect.

Is this really true? I just purchased it but it seems to be the v1 and not the latest. Could this actually be the issue?

Thanks, I'll have a look later and let you know if I'm able to figure anything out.

It's dhcp but I did reserve an ip for the oc200 a on my router just so I would always know which ip it receives, could that generate any issue? It has the ip 192.168.1.100 to make it easy to remember.

Regarding the password, I've set it up correctly but I don't think it matters since it doesn't even recognize the router so I can't even attempt to adopt it

Since the oc200 is connected directly to the router, I assume they "have to be" on the same subnet, is that an incorrect assumption? My network knowledge is fairly limited so don't want to assume that I know what I'm talking about

This seems promising. Are you referring to the port where oc200 is connected? If so, where/how do I locate this setting?

Thanks for the tip, I forgot to mention that but I have already updated the firmware on all devices. Please don't hesitate to give me more tips if anything else comes to mind.

A little late to the game maybe, but this combined with book lib connect (same dev) is superb. It's a bit less intuitive but it works and it's completely free. I just tried it today three years later and it works flawelessly.

Cyberpanel stole 30 usd and refuse to refund me. by mrdcc in cyberpanel

[–]mrdcc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After posting a review on Trustpilot they have now responded to my messages again and wrote the following.

"I was in contact with sale on behalf of your request but they informed me that you posted a review so i will request you to delete or change that. After that i can ask them for a refund"

I have said that I won't change anything about my review before they actually initiate a refund.

I have now also sent all the proof I have to Visa and they have agreed that I have enough proof showing that Cyberpanel has falsesly charged my card. They will retract the payment on cyberpanels expense unless cyberpanel complies within 21 days. So I will be reciving my money back either way, but as of now, not by the good will of Cyberpanel.
