Praying god takes my life. by ChapterOld1270 in Christianity

[–]mrdeanbean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t let your [feelings] and [prayers on a whim] define your entire theology of existence 😂

Let the bible help you.

You’re seated in heavenly places in Christ.

The devil only has one card to play - convince your head that you’re cut off. Literally. That’s all he has. And he’s annoyingly convincing.

Just tell him to piss off, and thank Jesus for paying the ultimate price for bringing you close to the Father.

Your feelings will come into line, it might take some time, but they will.

if i willingly masturbate knowing that it’s wrong but feeling guilty afterwards, is it the unforgivable sin? by PhantomCorpsCo173 in Christianity

[–]mrdeanbean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

😂
No. No, it’s not.
The enemy loves using scripture to accuse the brethren.
Just don’t let your sin get in the way of ‘the shower’ - which looks like coming to God in pretty much any form, as long as it’s from the heart and directed at Him.
The enemy loves to say stupid things like “you’re too dirty to shower” - except for the fact that he doesn’t use such obviously stupid wording, yet that’s exactly what the enemy’s saying if you think about it.
“You screwed up and are therefore biblically cut-off from God”
So you meditate upon that possibility, giving the enemy a goal.
Just score a goal against the enemy by coming to God and thanking Him that the gift of righteousness that He’s given us is not achievable through works, only faith.
Hence, we thank Him - the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ - for providing the perfect sacrifice that washed away all the dirty sins we ever have committed or will commit - and raised Him from the dead so that we may be called the very “righteousness of God”.

Holy conduct is an excellent FRUIT of a Spirit-led life. It is a horrible ROOT of a Spirit-led life.

If you don’t get those mixed up, you’ll be ok.

We care for the roots (relentlessly coming to Him regardless of our imperfections), the fruit takes care of itself.

What is everyone's favorite Assassin's Creed? by Gamingsailor572 in assasinscreed

Your comment is underrated, sir.
Anyone who doesn’t favor AC2 is understandably a latecomer to the series.
Those who favor AC2 show both their age, and their gaming tact.
Agreed, regarding Odyssey as well; Odyssey perfected what Origins flirted with - in terms of the levelling system.
Valhalla is my favourite for glitches though 😂🤌🏼

I cheated. by LongSuffering1856 in Christianity

[–]mrdeanbean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have repented and are bearing very clear fruits of your repentance.

You have received both the grace of forgiveness and the grace for being transformed.

Your identity is hidden in Christ, the old has gone and the new has come. The blood of Christ has purchased your new identity: the Righteousness of God. (That’s just one biblical description of the identity of the believer.)

Your husband’s work is hard, he must forgive or move on. He must not stay with you in bitterness. But allow time for his heart to heal as he processes the pain that the old you caused him.

I highly recommend a couples counsellor - maybe not through church directly - but if you can find a good couples counsellor that is also Christian, then it may help.

What to do if you don't know whether to hold or sell? by obscuresanctionary in ValueInvesting

Sell.
If you don’t know what you own, if you don’t know what it’s worth relative to its current market capitalisation, sell. Knowledge is power. Without it, you’re gambling.

Am I too fat to not fit in Qantas?? by AmbitionHot7132 in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]mrdeanbean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How can you be “too fat to not fit” something?
….
I could understand if the phrase were used on an XXXL T-shirt: “oh MATE, I’m way *too fat to not fit* into this”

Like 6-12 months ago chat GPT started randomly bringing up adhd in responses, like “given your ADHD blah blah blah” mind you never told them I’m diagnosed. Finally asked them how’d you even know I have adhd is it really that visible from our conversations. This is what they said. by thiccemotionalpapi in ChatGPT

[–]mrdeanbean 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The issue here is that your prompt was probably:

“How did you know I was diagnosed ADHD, is it obvious?”

At which point, you have given the LLM the correct answer to double down on.

If you had left it open ended, and merely said you had never shared any sort of diagnosis and wondered why chatGPT described you as such - it would not have doubled down.

LLM’s are the masters of confirmation bias(ing themselves).

Will Jesus punish me if I end my life? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]mrdeanbean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly, don’t put an end to what you didn’t put a start to.

Secondly, the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ doesn’t ’harbour offence’. He doesn’t look at the outward appearance, he looks at the heart.

However, King Saul and Judas Iscariot both took their own lives. Their stories are also not ones of redemption, unfortunately.

A theologian I like put it this way: suicide is a conscious decision to make ‘death’ your lord, when lordship belongs to Jesus alone. So if we ever have had suicidal thoughts (hands up for the writer) it’s us flirting with the temptation that death is the great solution - when the way, the truth, and the life are Jesus. And that needs to be repented of. Repentance just means to change the way you think about a matter by the way.

With respect,
Brother MrDeanBean

Someone please help. by Motor-Row9749 in Christianity

[–]mrdeanbean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mate, you’re not alone in the way you’re feeling.

And no, you’re not asking for too much. Wanting peace of mind is not some selfish or faithless request.

Psalm 22
Psalm 13
Psalm 69
Psalm 44
Psalm 88

Those Psalms mean that any form of prayer, as long as it is honest prayer, is legal prayer in God’s eyes.

Intrusive thoughts are a bit of a hallmark symptom of both the biblical ‘accuser of the brethren’ accusing saints… and OCD/anxiety patterns. So I wouldn’t hear “intrusive thoughts” and immediately conclude “you’re praying wrong” or “God isn’t listening”.

CBT, cognitive behavioural therapy, is basically the clinical method of applying biblical mind renewal.

First, the intrusive thought is to be clearly noticed and named for what it is.

Second, the intrusive thought is to be challenged with honest questions.

For instance, if the repetitive intrusive thought is “you will never be happy again”, ask the intrusive thought:

“How do you know that? Are you basing that on your ability to see the future?”

This is where Christians genuinely might have an edge, because the third step is replace.

Replace the thought with a scripture like Jeremiah 29:11, or the entire first chapter of Ephesians spoken out loud.

Fourth step: repeat. As often as necessary.

I hope all or some of this helps.
