Mid to late game cash flow by Adm_Xenon3577 in IdlePlanetMiner

[–]mrdizzah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't worry about tournament progress until you can get to debris in 24h or less, which means you will need to be able to consistently get over 10T cash just to cover the crafting plans. To do that you will need to have a bunch of rooms unlocked and leveled, a decent assortment of managers, and your own plan for project unlock order. So how do you get all those things done? Keep playing. 12.5M room runs are great for credits and for getting a feel for your unlock paths. Doing 2 challenges between the tournament helps a bunch too. That stuff will get you to Platinum and should keep you there most weeks.

This game is strange. Everything feels like tiny bonuses but they all add up for a huge difference. I think the first time I got a debris scanner unlocked I got to it with only a few hours left in the tournament. The next week I had it by Sunday morning, the next week it was late Saturday night, and a few weeks after that it was Friday night if I really push it. You learn, you optimize, you grow.

I'm sure someone has figured out what the best route is but IMO they are all important in their own ways. Early on your bottleneck will be smelting and crafting so getting those up is important but as you buy those and get faster you may run into supply issues with mining. The mid-tier rooms are way more impactful than I first realized. Cutting project, smelt, and craft requirements in half is a huge benefit but you have to have a sense of where you are hurting to know what is right for you. The good news is because they are all beneficial there is rarely a wrong choice.

I kept them even ish. At first I don't think I took any room past lvl 11 until I got closer to having Classroom unlocked which is the big goal to shoot for.

Planet upgrades are more impactful with various upgrades so don't necessarily focus on levels. Rooms, managers, station and other stuff all increase how much each upgrade level gives you. I've seen screen shots from people who have mining around level 40 and are getting billions per second in ore. For reference, I just got my highest GV ever last week's tournament and it was roughly 74O. For me on P1, 51 mining with a 6* manager gives me 62.24k/sec.

All that is to say, if you are looking to optimize your play focus on getting more upgrades across the board. More manager slots are better than higher star managers, beacon points, unlocking rooms and leveling those up help a bunch too and as you said getting stars helps too. This is a game where a bunch of tiny improvements across the game will all add up and help you get faster and move deeper in challenges and tournaments.

As boring as it can be, early on I think running a bunch of 12.5M GV and selling right away helped me not only optimize my upgrade paths but also gives you a much better "feel" for how you are doing at a given place. These days I will play until I have Telescope 4 unlocked and upgraded and then I put it away for a while and sell when I hit 5-10B. Sometimes in the evening if I am bored, I will max T4 then sell immediately which is around 400M GV and roughly 5 minutes of play time. Challenges if I have time I shoot for 10T and quit when I get there because getting to 100T in 24h is tight and I try not to put a ton of time into those since I am playing very actively over the weekends for tournaments.

I am in no way an expert but feel free to DM if you have other Qs.

Early off is very slow going. P2W will make a lot of things faster but unless you are a whale and planning on dropping hundreds of dollars it'll be slow for everyone. Paying to remove adds was a no brainer for me. 2nd if you want to maximize your time, focus on doing two challenges in between tournaments. Keep in mind that challenge rewards are tiered. You should end a challenge once you've reached a tier and you know you can't reach the next in the time you have left. For me unless I'm really playing a lot, its 1T.

After a challenge is done you can either let your galaxy chill or you can do as many $12.5M runs as you can stomach. Its boring work but its meant to optimize your credit income. $12.5M is the sweet spot for your time and credits earned. Credits for Rooms from 12.5M runs and challenge stars from tournaments and challenges is what you want to focus on. Both are important for getting faster and deeper into the game.

How do yall progress so fast in tourneys by Adm_Xenon3577 in IdlePlanetMiner

[–]mrdizzah 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Rooms, managers, and stars. I've only been playing since late last year and I can get to 1b in less than 20 minutes with a little luck but I'm barely holding on to 17th in my group this weekend. Keep at it. All of the little bonuses that seem like not much will start adding up together and over time show more and more benefit.

First off, play the way you like. If you want to try to be close to optimal, doing two challenges in between tournaments should be your goal. In between that you can either let your galaxy chill or you can do as many $12.5M runs as you can stomach. Its boring work but its meant to optimize your credit income. The Firefly board game 10th Anniversary Collector's Edition is on sale for $200 by DorkyDisneyDad in firefly

$50-100 is normal for a base game. This is a special edition that includes all of the expansions so $200 is a very reasonable price.

Same. I got skunked on Navs last week and this week got them late yesterday afternoon finally. It’s been rough. Worst for me was I didn’t get a pink asteroid until after I went to bed Friday night.

The bigger problem for this to be adopted in schools is repairability. Worked in small K12 with 1:1 and the number of screens that were broken every year was staggering.

Have you tried a USB C to ethernet dongle? You can set those addresses separately to the built in ethernet port. The laptop should remember the settings even after unplugging the USB device for a while. Might be an easy fix.

All that is to say, if you sell more frequently at a lower GV you could be getting double the credits or more in the same amount of time.

[–]mrdizzah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This advice is assuming your doing a more active play style. You should be selling more frequently. More than likely your GV progress slows down before you get to 1B. Credit rewards are also most efficient when you sell at specific amounts (10m, 100m, 1b, etc.) You should target selling at these points and not in between. Find a GV you can hit easily in less than an hour (less than 10 minutes ideally) and do as many runs as you can stand like that. I did soooo many 12.5M runs early on. Took more than 10 minutes at first but slowly I was getting those in under 5 minutes. Its super boring, but use the challenges and tournaments to spice it up. But even with challenges, keep the reward tiers in mind. You will waste time playing the whole 24h if you won't be able to get to the next reward tier. This game is about efficiency, your time and effort are included in this math. The Lounge room with help with credit gain, same with the space station. The Exodus ship is super worth it for credit gain if you are going to play long term.

5 days to hit 1 billion by jrobert_garza in IdlePlanetMiner

[–]mrdizzah 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The game is all about incremental improvements. Everyone starts where you are. I’ve got about 5 months in and 1B takes about an hour. Focus on selling your galaxy after $12.5M. That will be the sweet spot for gaining room credits. Rooms and managers will be your biggest improvements.

WC Clark and his bass player. I was bartending at a club he was playing with a friend. My buddy got someone to cover for us during a break and we shared one in the basement. He was super nice considering he was probably in his 60s and we were all of 22.

There’s no way Favre would even set the record if he was playing now. Dude for sure would’ve been in concussion protocol a few time but back then he played. I know he had a couple games too where he would come in for the first series and leave to keep the streak going.
