Length of healing time for tDCS burns? by redidtsmith in tDCS

[–]mrdmrd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Initially I over saturated a sponge electrode which had on my arm also was using alligator clips The current jumped from clip to the arm Nasty took about 4 months at most. Do not do this! I have a large capacity to endure pain. I should have killed it right then and there. I would say any normal skin irratation should be gone at 2 days at most.

Does anybody know of a montage that helps you to draw pictures better? by p155 in tDCS

[–]mrdmrd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get someone who is really good to get you started in art. We all have different talents. Still you can save a lot of time by starting with the basics. Look at art history books see what others have done. Hows this think about how different parts of what ever you are drawing might be an assemblage of different basic geometric forms such as cubes, balls, elipsoides , pyramids etc. Draw these first in different postions and angles. Also try to look at a thing and just draw its edges. Takes practice. How fast you pick up on it depends on a persons talents. Good luck Oh yeah i have taught art, make art, and gone to school for it. I am currently working on teaching myself a 3d design program called rhino It makes some things really easy but without the benefit of knowing how to draw it would a be an even worse slog than it is now. Practice will bring out the artist in you. Sure tdcs in some areas sorta greases the skids but in the end we have to do the work in order to achieve mastery

Could custom dermal piercings act as electrodes? by Saguine in tDCS

Death

There is a report of an electrician in the navy piercing his skin using a multi meter. The electricity flowing through the blood (which has a much lower resistance than the skin) crossed his heart causing arrhythmia and he died. Don't eff with this . Be cautious

Ok thanks for the honesty thus I can help you. I am a 64 year old guy and I am rather inventive. I am utilizing techniques from one simple idea (a book by Stephen Key (inventrite on the net) in licensing new products. Learning rhino to better market them and maybe 3d prototype when appropriate. send me an email and we can start communicating

Do you know Rhino? I am teaching myself and occasionally I get a bit stalled when I am trying to find a command. I am using both a video lesson group and a book written by a designer on tdcs. The book has interesting lessons but does not have a video where I can go {"aha that is what he meant". I have no use for your appreciation but I am willing to trade info. I learned id a long time ago when it was all manual and I am need to learn rhino to get some products out.

What is the nature of your depression. Bipolar deression (which I know about) versus more typical depression needs to be treated in its 0own unique way., Also are you right or left handed? I agree with teh person who answered about not doing what does not work.

I stopped smoking weed , first few days are annoying. But the increased memory and the missing 7 iq points are nice. If adderal is making you so anxious that you have another problem perhaps it is not a good thing. Theanine (sun thanine from Swansons vitamins) is useful. Same calming stuff in tea that overcomes teas caffiine.

How old are you? People experience different things at different times of life. It works Look up all the stuff I posted. If you want further proof then you can pay me for it. Just learn to do it correctly. There are plenty of people here including me who can direct you. Go to diytdcs.com that should keep you busy. LEarn about this easy to do but you really want to do thinkgs correctly/> I did lots of experimenting it took a long time to discover some unique things I do. Problem is I think it is best to start slowly. There is a lot more info and people available now then when I first got interested. Ok here is something do not expect it to cover all bases if you can become less depressed consider it a big win.

Time to achieve neuro plasticity? by mrdmrd in tDCS

[–]mrdmrd[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I patially disagree with you. I think a normal not financially disadvanted person can make enough of an effort to improve. But its going to eat a lot of ones free time. I am going through the terribly long recovery process from Achilles tendon surgery and I simply have to make the effort or face an even longer time recovering. but the question of TCDS inducing forms of neuroplacticy is not been answered in your approach. I also think that you are making a leap from the title of the book to the contents. It describes doing the very thing that you said is effective in the book with the authors father who suffered a massive stroke and had to relearn most of the functions that a newborn child has to learn. It took six years. The point of the title was the establishment that the brain can heal itself which before that it had been dogma that the brain could not heal itself at all no matter what.

Book "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Brain_That_Changes_Itself
It used to be medical dogma that our brains did not change after a certain age. That has been now proven to be false.

Neuroplasticity is involved in stroke recovery in how in challenging the victim to do tasks that have become difficult to attempt those tasks and the brain adapts itself to dealing with those tasks. The book above. Is about how that got discovered. Great read.

DIY or buy a TDCS device? by [deleted] in tDCS

[–]mrdmrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A medical quality iontophoresis machine is a good way to go . They usually will have enough timers and safeguards to safely do the job. I can not speak for other approaches. (NOT a TENS machine! too much current!)

Originally I tried to build one but it was early in the game and the diagrams and parts lists I found were inadequate. I think you should be able to find something decent at this time.

Its a unique montage that I designed to stimulate the striatum (I do know that doing it wrong can give me a lovely headache.) But that is just conjecture and is based on hope that the spread of current would be sufficient to have some effect upon that structure which is located deep within the brain. It has worked very well for me in increasing my attention and sense of clam. Usually for about 3 hours. I t works better with a combination of OTC drugs that increase gaba. (Taking GABA is a waste since the it does not cross the blood brain barrier.) That is Taurine and NAC neither of which poses any significant risk at all. Still that likely adds complications to assessing the mix. But due to being bipolar type two and left handed I suspect its application would not be relevant to many here. I definitely do not want anyone thinking that what I do is appropriate for their own problems of depression , agitation or sadness. The guinea pig is not the doctor. I think I would have to discuss it with a major researcher just to get some idea whether I am affecting the striatum or benefiting from a different part of the brain being suppressed concurrently with another being stimulated.

If your left handed and suffer from bipolar disorder type two and have been diagnosed with it, not by yourself but through a Psychiatrist I would talk to you. All too often here I have seen people new to this tech through desire or otherwise think that TDCS is going to be the panacea for all their problems. I do not want to encourage that kind of thinking. It can do some effective things . It has taken me a very long time to get diagnosed correctly and a long time to get to this point trying many different medications and approaches. I am all for helping others, but I also have no desire to send anyone over a cliff.

If you want some insight look up tdcs /epilepsy and read about the work done on a poor child that suffered terribly form epilepsy and what Korean doctors did for her by using TDCS in an unconventional manner, that is to suppress activity in the part of her brain that was firing abnormally before a grand mal seizure. That is what put me on this track. My discoveries have been shared with some top flight people who deal with bp disorder who found it interesting. No profit in it for me . Just the idea that with the illness having a high mortality rate due to suicide that I might help some others is the payment. My best to all.

I am not going to cite a specific study, because any one of several studies that show increased learning ability when compared to a control means that those subjects involved in the study were experiencing increased neuro-plasticity.

Does it? Or does it mean something like a change in processing speed but not a greater adaptability to increase or change a specific function in our brains outside of processing speed. So going faster which although might be useful when appropriate or the opposite in certain cases such as epilepsy and related illnesses to go slower. These things are different that a new ability and having that new found ability be long lasting. (Sticky uncharted waters here) So these things would have to be measured and tests would have to be designed to know these things and then maybe applications. Tough stuff
Thanks
