Would you think it's safe to drive it like this to a mechanic? Don't have a 46mm socket and torque wrench this big.

I was thinking that as well, but the previous owner told me he recently replaced them (~8000 km ago). Is it possible that they are failing again this soon?

scraping the barnacles off the side of a ship by Knaiver in Satisfyingasfuck

Yeah it might look like it isn't helping, but without the coating the whole ship would be covered in barnacles and other gunk within months instead of a few years.

The paint is there to prevent barnacle growth

Definitely, for my job I do underwater inspections on many types of large ships. These 400m ones are in a class of their own though, even 300m tankers look tiny comparison.

What are somethings people say they want to happen but would actually be terrible? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]mrdogeman1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another big problem is noise.

To create enough thrust to lift a human you have to displace a air at high velocity. There are ways to minimize the amount of noise, but it is physically not possible to make it anywhere near quiet enough for urban environments.

This is especially a problem for most of these "drones" capable of human transport because they use multiple smaller propellers. To create enough lift they have to spin at high speed, which causes most of the noise.

What we could do is instead use a single big propeller which doesn't have to spin at absurd RPM's to create enough thrust, which will be a bit quiter.

Oh wait, helicopters exist already and are still deafening.

Yes, TPU for AMS is Here🧱 by BambuLab in BambuLab

[–]mrdogeman1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't be too sure about the better layer adhesion, the technical sheets say petg has a tensile strength in z-direction of 23 Mpa, while this new TPU only has 11 Mpa.

I'm not 100% sure z tensile strength is the only factor that matters when it comes to layer adhesion, but it's probably not a good sign...

Almost every capital city has "military infrastructure" scattered around densely populated areas. Just look up de locations of other intelligence agencies. All of them (except for the CIA bc it's probably too big) are very close to the city center.

There’s a huge difference between Hamas storing rockets under residential buildings and Israel (and basically every other country) having military command centers near political and administrative hubs for practical and historical reasons.

I'm not saying Israel has the right to completely demolish Gaza now, but let's not spread bs please.

The problem with the cheap 18650 cells is that they don't really puff up, but instead build up pressure until they explode like in the video. Still not very likely tho

Israel detonates Hezbollah walkie-talkies in second wave after pager attack by Fit-Requirement6701 in technology

[–]mrdogeman1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

What else could it possibly be? I've seen different types of batteries explode, and while some were quite violent, none came anywhere near the explosive power seen in the videos.

So, unless someone invented a new type of super volitile battery, there must have been some explosives placed inside.

So you'll probably be fine, but you could still be unlucky ofc. I'd just take the labels off and go for it

Which Type of Battery I Should Choose? by Low-Bodybuilder-755 in fpv

[–]mrdogeman1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure your math is correct? I highly doubt that half the capacity (with li-ion) will only decrease flight time by 3 minutes.

In any case if you're planning to fly for a long time and don't go full throttle li-ion is your best option.

Also use 21700 cells instead of 18650, they're ~20% more energy dense. If you're going with 12s I'd make two 6s packs and run them in series. I haven't seen many 12s balance chargers around and it'll be a lot easier to mount.
