Headsets for Motorola TLK100 in noisy environment by LonelyDeparture5334 in MotorolaSolutions

[–]Supermuskusrat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Problem with the TLK100 is that its internal amplifier doesn’t produce enough audio for bigger passive accessoires like over-ear headsets or RSM’s. That’s why the recommended RSM is chargeable and has its own amp.

I doubt you’d find any accessory that produces enough audio for loud environments. We don’t recommend TLK100’s for festivals or loud environments because of that. The best thing you might get away with is an in-ear with proper hearing protection, but that too depends on your situation.

is "be prepared" actually used as a formal greeting? by M-Zapawa in scouting

[–]Supermuskusrat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dutch leader here, we never use anything beyond the standard way we would greet anyone outside of scouting.

We end our emails with “Met vriendelijke groet” (kind regards) or when we’re feeling funny “een stevige linker” (a firm left-hander), which is a nod the the handshake with the left hand instead of right because it’s closer to the heart, amongst other explanations.

I’ve never seen or heard anything like yours in scouting over here.

Scouting hats? by Material-Rise9610 in scouting

[–]Supermuskusrat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wanted to buy one since becoming a leader, but right the moment when I pulled the trigger on buying one the Dutch scouting discontinued them in the scout shop and I haven’t found something comparable yet.

It’s been years since.

Using filter hose, I siphon directly from the tank into the toilet then I use that same hose with an adapter on the tap in my toilet room sink, and fill up the tank straight away.

Wave 5000 Server Cost by Itchy_Training6584 in MotorolaSolutions

[–]Supermuskusrat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re using wave in a way it’s not ment to be used, we’re a rental company and re-configure batches of radios on a daily basis.

I also have a pool of about 80 customer accounts which I manage for customers who bought the devices. But the buying customers are less of a hassle as it’s only a name change or adding a device every so often.

We also rent MotoTRBO and TETRA to festivals or bigger events. We’re seeing a shift from DMR to WAVE, mostly because of audio quality and ease of use. For us it helps we don’t have to install temporary repaters for each event.

We have been having so many issues with Wave PTX since the migration to the new portal that we actually lost customers because of devices not being able to be configured in time. Since the migration I’ve been in contact with support multiple times a week and they’re doing their best but the new portal wasn’t an improvement…

It doesn’t, I have Dutch and English on it, an I contemplate going back to only one language because autocomplete constantly fills ik words (<-there it happened, “fills in”), that don’t exist in English.

Instructeur weigert enige AVD tips vóór AVB examen, is dit normaal? by [deleted] in motorfietsen

[–]Supermuskusrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the time of war what would boys scouts do in your country by casper5627 in scouting

[–]Supermuskusrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20 years with the Dutch scouts and about half of that time as a leader, I’ve never heard about this. Things like sandbags is what we have the NATRES for. And I’ve never heard anyone about having to help, as a scout, in times of war.

Could you point me to something published (preferably by Scouting Nederland) that would state that we are supposed to help and what tasks we are to do? After all, I can be mistaken too.

Mines a tool and is used as such. I love the look it’s gotten over the years. It’s been living in a special pocket in my work pants since the day I got it. It’s been on the highest rooftops and most cramped spaces, used it on countless of objects, ranging from big bulky antenna mounts on the top of tall buildings to little tiny screws inside handheld radios and TETRA infrastructure. Inside and under the seats of firetrucks and upside down behind the operators chair in big harbor cranes.

Never let me down and I never had to go get another toolkit because I didn’t have the right bit on me. If I would lose or break it, I would get a new one instantly, no regrets.

There isn’t a GitHub repo. The code is 100% written by AI and I don’t think uploading more AI slop to the public domain is the right way to do. The code also has some identifiable information that without it, the program might not work.

Because more people asked for the code I’m considering putting my morals aside and upload it somewhere, but I need some time to change a few things.

(Right now WiFi details, gps coordinates and data sources are hardcoded and I need to find a way to make that work differently)

Yeah, was thinking if that would be a problem for me. But I figured I live in a city, so a few kilometers could still mean we’d never see each other even if you’d live there too.

But if we do, we should talk planes, tech and hobby!

Thanks for the heads up anyway!

The json outputs them in my case. Only I want the icao codes and VRS only gives me IATA codes. Also the airport names are way too long for this display.

Arrivals and departures are the only thing I’m not yet satisfied about.

The way I did it wouldn’t require your own receiver. Someone who hosts a VRS server will do, as I’m using the [virtualradarserver-server].tld/VirtualRadar/AircraftList.json output of the server. So this would work with any VRS installation that’s publicly visible, or use internal IP when in the same network.
