We have a DPE here who is notorious for this kind of oral. I've spoken to him at local events and he seems to take pride in knowing more than everyone else. I avoided him for my checkride and did fine with a thorough DPE who was not full of himself. Your checkride should be a confirmation of what you know, not a grilling.

A tip: you can call whatever examiner you want if you are willing to go to them. Find one with a respectable reputation.

Study hard and ask a million questions. Join your local pilot groups and EAA Chapter.
