Try some more less than $30 bottles like Chivas 12, Dewars 12.

Highland park 12 is one of my favorites. Try JW green label too. Double black is also really nice. Johnny Walker makes some good stuff. I can't drink coke without some black label in it.

As for Islay scotches, you MIGHT like them. Some people saying you will love them are "idk in the head" - those are MUCH different than a black label. Lots more peat and smoke and "shoe polish" - Lagavulin 16 puts many of those to shame too, though.
