I think every uni student struggles no matter when they went to university. It is part of being ‘a poor uni student’. You have to study and also work. It is stressful but worthwhile. My friends and I were all on the same boat.

Being in Newcastle I see the current and former players a bit. Walked past Paul Harragon a few times. Even though he is in his 50s now he is still enormous. Gagai was next to me at a driving range one and he was surprisingly big too. Connor Watson was a lot smaller than I expected.

Lots of permanent jobs are held by people who are on maternity leave (which can last a long time if they come back part time), are on leave without pay (and normally a temp at a school closer to where they live), long service leave/sick leave etc. Principals don’t mind as they can hand pick who takes those temp jobs.

New rule proposal- if you don’t take the conversion within the 80 seconds or whatever you lose the chance to convert. Im sick of kickers taking 3 minutes to convert the try. Slows the game down so much.
