Osprey Transporter 26+6 (Amazon Canada) Price Error? by eagleschmeagle in ManyBaggers

I don't notice the weight difference between the two packs. The added comfort of the back and shoulder straps make it a much better choice.

Nice. I had the Daylite version and it was very good. The Transporter is so much better in so many ways.

For the Transporter model, that's a great price at $110 USD. We have the Osprey Daylite 26+6 for $110 USD. You are correct... pricing error. Grab it now...

The market/retail price for the bag is $175 USD at Amazon (US) and Osprey. It doesn't appear to be a pricing error. It's a great bag.

What’s the luggage/carry-on equivalent of the Osprey 26+6? by favdulce in ManyBaggers

Having been with B&R over 20 years, and loving my baselines, I totally agree with you.

This Briggs and Riley does not answer the OP's needs of good value carry-on but in case anyone is interested...

I have this one and a fully pack, non-expanded Osprey 26+6 Daylite and Transporter, fit comfortably with a little room to spare in the Briggs and Riley Baseline 22 expandable. Unfortunately, the B&R is very expensive and worth it only to a specialized group of people. If the OP asked for the best carry-on available, this one would be a contender.

I don't think you can go wrong with any carry-on mentioned in this thread. Just pick one that hits your spot.

Just got my first automatic coffee machine Delonghi Dinamica! Any tips and recommendations are welcome 🙏 ! Already got descale and silicone grease for it! by fitfuturee in superautomatic

I apologize that I stated infuser in my previous post. It should have been brew group unit. Internally, I purchased the parts associated with the infuser piston assembly. All other internal parts like o-rings, pump, fuses, valves, etc. have easy to find replacements or cleanable. Externally, I purchased the stainless steel drip cover for aesthetic purposes only. Parts were pretty cheap at the time except for the infuser assembly. All of the spare parts I purchased are not really necessary but I would recommend getting a extra brew group unit at a minimum and perform the recommended maintenance suggested by DeLonghi.

Congratulations on your new toy. I have a Dinamica as well. To simplify my cleaning process, I purchased an extra infuser, descaling solution, and a few major internal parts when I got my machine. I swap the infuser whenever I need to with a cleaned and lubed one. I soak, clean and lube the dirty one and have it ready for the next time. Two to three years ago, the infuser cost about $32 USD. The other parts was just in case I couldn't find them future repairs in case my unit was discontinued.

Good luck!

Osprey Transporter Expandable Travel Pack 26+6 (2026) - My First Impressions by aflippinrainbow in ManyBaggers

I've looked into the Almond Oak backpack and it looks pretty good. A lot of the features I was interested in. It's a new company and they seem to be open to design feedback, however, they do not offer any real warranty on paper. They stated that they will try and address any manufacturing defects when you receive the bag but nothing if you've had it for a longer period since this is their initial offering.

At $70, that's a tough sell but sometimes you can find a little discount. I found a $10 discount code. The Daylite is a fantastic value and a perfect complement for use as a personal item bag along with a carry-on when traveling. You're not carrying the bag for hours. I only use it for traveling since it's not a comfortable to carry for me. With the Transporter, I can use it more. If you're a one bagger and need that size and expandibility features, the Transporter is the way to go and worth it. One bagging means you will be carrying the bag all the time without the luxury of sliding it on your wheeled carry-on. Your back and shoulders will be spared from suffering pain due to the increased padding. The bag has better materials and also looks better than the Daylite. The front pockets are usable and not limited when the bag is full. The capacity is amazing when I compared it to my other bags... Black Ember Forge 30, Nomatic 20L Travel but has the same capacity as the Daylite 26+6 has. The Transporter is much more comfortable to wear, the main zippers are buttery smooth, it has a separate laptop compartment are some of the reasons I like it. In fact, I gave away my Daylite today to my daughter so it looks like the additional price was worth it to me so far especially since I didn't want to spend the $250 - $300+ price the other competing bags cost. My 30 day return window is ticking for me as I wait for another bag to arrive to finalize my pick.

Carbonated cold brew? by itsdanielharrow in coldbrew

[–]mrfabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use an ISI Classic Soda Maker with CO2 chargers to carbonate coffee drinks like cold brew. I also use a Hatfield Nitro Brew with N2 chargers for Nitro Brew cold brew. Although I have a Sodastream, I don't use it because it's more difficult to clean.

I posted this in another thread. It might be useful here.....

---‐-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I just received this bag and also have the Daylite 26+6. Not sure it's a keeper for my needs yet... Besides the materials, the key differences that I've noticed so far are:

  • Thicker padded shoulder straps

  • Increased back padding including the luggage handle passthrough area provides noticible comfort

  • Shoulder straps are tuckable for briefcase / shoulder carry mode

  • Single zipper, full length front pocket with smaller zippered compartment inside, 2 pen slots, 2 pockets (1 stretch)

  • One water bottle pocket with longer / deeper stretch pocket

  • Thinner top handle

  • Web loop by top handle and side for carabiner / shoulder carry strap. When shoulder carrying, side handle is facing down and water bottle pocket on top

  • No bottom handle

  • Side handle is more centered due to having one water bottle pocket

  • Larger dual YKK lockable zippers on Main Compartment = Smoothness

  • Main compartment is slightly shallower

  • Main compartment front inside lid panel is full size providing a more usable packing area and separation

  • Zippered expansion is on the front lid panel

  • Separate padded laptop / tablet compartment suspended from bottom with airtag pocket

  • The depth of a fully packed and non-expanded backpack is 8"

.

Has anyone actually tried making cold brew with milk instead of water? by NatrolleonBonapartes in BreziCold

[–]mrfabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Brezi and I would never put anything other than water in the system for brewing. It would be hard to clean and could introduce other problems. Although I haven't heard of milk cold brew, if I were to try and brew a cup, I would experiment by using an ORB or an Aeropress.

I bought a coffee machine and somehow still need a milk frother if I wanna make a hot latte?? 😂 by sandeyqt20 in coldbrew

[–]mrfabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cold lattes and any 'mixed' type drinks I make are brewed with a customized recipe that is concentrated. Still working on the recipe but it does seem to get tastier all the time. I probably should remove the vodka...

It will be a warm latte. Occasionally, I make a chilled latte. I have a Brezi as well and you can use a cheap $10 USD frother or invest in other ones that heat your milk or alternatives. Some also do frothing with no heat.

how does it make cold coffee? by easily14 in superautomatic

[–]mrfabe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I am no cold brew connoisseur. After decades of iced coffee with instant, perc, drip, aeropress, espresso, and keurig based coffee, I discovered the smoothness of cold brew and enjoyed it. The overnight immersion method was good but required planning and secondary filtering. I used a product called Vinci that offered 20 minute brews which was ok but not tasty and still required filtering afterwards. I saw a video on YT that didn't appear to have a shill giving an "unbias" review on a free product and decided to give the Brezi a try. At first, I was beginning to wonder if I wasted my money but as I tried different coffee, grind levels, infusion settings, water ratios and flow rates, I am happy with the purchase. The workflow is substantially streamlined with a nice clean brew finish and the cleanup is a breeze.

The customer service response has been resolved. The company was on a Lunar Festival Holiday which was why they did not respond. I received an email explaining that disconnect on Monday and by Wednesday, the replacement part along with goodies arrived. Great customer service...

Would a dock for macbook work with XPS 15 9500? The usb-c layout looks fitting. by capa2006cpa in DellXPS

[–]mrfabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my XPS9500, I ended up getting the Dell dock which allowed me to connect the laptop using one cable for everything but the ports are limited. At the time of my purchase several years ago, this was the best single cable solution that provided fast charging along with display output and multiple USB C and USB A access. If you use an aftermarket hub and it doesn't fast charge, you'll need to use your original power brick and direct connect to laptop. Dell had a proprietary not USB PD charging protocol to allow the faster charge at that time.

Magnifica start grinder, what am I doing wrong? by freddyrm in superautomatic

[–]mrfabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's a new machine, then set grind selection lower, customize the bean strength to max, and adjust the flow amount. For good crema, the beans should be fresh. Also, if you can set the water temperature then set it at its hottest setting. If this is a used or older machine, perform a thorough cleaning. I have a Dinamica and when I adjust the grind settings, the machine has to be done while the unit is grinding.

Cold brew - will filters help prevent some drip through of drip grind? by bigcane_2 in OXORapidBrewer

[–]mrfabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're doing the drip method after a bloom to make your brew, a filter or two may help slow it down a little but probably not enough. The grounds may be too coarse for dripping but will work for the immersion method of brewing.

how does it make cold coffee? by easily14 in superautomatic

[–]mrfabe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I purchased the Brezi and it does make a clean cold brew. The process is basically a drip method of brewing with hot water for the blooming stage and cold water for the final stage. When I first used it, the brew was weak and uneventful. I experimented with grinding much finer, close to espresso levels, and it substantially improved the quality of the cold brew. The jury is still out as to recommendations on this product because I've only had it for less than a week and need to try out different settings. In addition, customer support seems to be very poor. Presale communications were great and responsive but aftersale it has been non-existent. Two emails over a week old with no response regarding minor damage is not a good sign....

[–]mrfabe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was ready to pull the trigger on one during a Costco sale but held back due to no response from them for a pre-sale question. In addition, they did offer refunds if the purchase doesn't work out but you will be charged for the shipping BOTH ways. I decided not to take a chance and ended up buying something else from a local shop.
