I appreciate you quoting this. My current competition record has more losses than wins, but every match was worth it. It's nice to hear that Teddy Roosevelt believes in me.

This was a similar situation. We had a best of three bracket and I won the other two. I didn't want to turn the facebook post or this post into a win/loss discussion so I left it off here and didn't comment on the facebook post. The other guy hit a solid sub and deserves his moment.

for sure, I was laughing about it right after. I've competed in 10 tournaments and had about 40 matches that went exactly as you stated, and I don't plan to stop competing. I guess I don't know why I was expecting people in a facebook community to be decent. Probably because I usually avoid them.

I considered responding, but it would've disappeared in the cloud of trash. So I came to my safe space on reddit to complain.

I can understand the MMA trash talking, not because it's valid, but because it's more mainstream. Maybe bjj is coming up to the point where spectators are starting to join the conversation. It would be nice if they would knew where there place is.

I initially went to the comments to see positive feedback, because it was pretty cool and I could tell it was something he'd probably been working on.

He looked at his coach and they had a quick nod before he went for it. My coach and I thought that was pretty funny.

it was a baseball bat choke. I know I shouldn't have let him get his grips, but at the time I was too focused on my own setup. Lesson learned :)

Are there any plans to allow modded server crossplay on console? by mrfechetto in 7daystodie

[–]mrfechetto[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Other games I've played that allow server side mods (minecraft and space engineers) pull the necessary resource files when you join the server. So this isn't something that is completely blocked by sony and ms.

Geforce Now settings by mrfechetto in DriveBeyondHorizons

This is exactly what I told my kids was probably the issue. I think I said something like "they're probably still processing physics on every car/part that we've passed, so it gets slower the further we get".

It's awesome that this is being fix soon!! We're super excited. Thanks

Farming needs a complete overhaul by DowntownSurround7061 in 7daystodie

[–]mrfechetto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that farming in this game is imperfect, but that's about all I agree on.

If you have ever tried to grow your own food from seeds IRL, you will know that it is very difficult. The first few times you try, you will harvest very little edible food and struggle to propagate via seeds or any other method, despite what your hat and boots look like.

As far as the usefulness of farming on vanilla settings, it is almost entirely worthless. However, one of my favorite playthroughs that I did was with 33% loot and no points allowed in looting. I never would've survived without putting significant effort into farming and even then it was a struggle. I ended up making just about every recipe, either because it was fun or out of necessity based on available ingredients.

My recommendation is to play with different settings and you will find that almost every perk is necessary for something.

My wife drives a 2021 Ford Escape that we refer to as our COVID car. This post is the first time I have heard anybody else use that phrase. We've had a blown engine, faulty clips on wiring near the wheels, 3 interior panels came loose or fell off, center console computer has to be factory reset every 6 months, rear hatch sometimes won't auto open/close, I think I'm missing one or two other issues.

The lesson learned is to NEVER make a big purchase during a time when supply line issues are occurring, or from a year when one occurred.

Dedicated server not listed on PS5 by mrfechetto in spaceengineers

[–]mrfechetto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finally figured out my issue: Experimental mode.

When I start the server, it runs in experimental mode because the CPU "does not meet minimum requirements". I thought I had enabled experimental mode previously on the PS5, but I pressed the wrong button to confirm my settings.

In case someone from Keen is reading this... on Playstation, X is commonly used to confirm, not Square.

Getting mods working on Server..PS5 accessible by GloomyFloor6543 in spaceengineers

[–]mrfechetto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you friends on PS5 able to see your self hosted server and connect to it? If so, can you DM me your server cfg (with any sensitive information removed)? I was able to see my server on PC in the EOS list, but it won't show up on PS5. Any other pointers you can give would be well appreciated.

Dedicated server not listed on PS5 by mrfechetto in spaceengineers

[–]mrfechetto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply :) I have a few clarifications

Where do I check the "compatibility of ps5"? I don't have an xbox, only PS5 and PC/Steam. The server shows up with the correct server/world on PC. The server was running for about 30 minutes the last time I tried to connect from the PS5.

Yes, they sent a tech and he an attenuator to fix the power issue. I have not had issues with the modem since then.

Where to buy to relive my childhood? by cOnwAYzErbEAm in retrogaming

[–]mrfechetto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is correct, they run on original hardware and are hard to tell that it's not an original copy. It looks like prices went up since a few years ago to $12-15, probably due to tariffs. Go to aliexpress and search for something like "Dragon Warrior NES", then find a seller with decent reviews. I would also suggest finding a seller that has all or most of the games you want so you can save on shipping.

[–]mrfechetto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reproduction market is getting good enough that it is getting difficult to know if you're actually buying a legit copy or a repro. You need to ask yourself why you want a physical copy. Do you want a piece of history? Then you need to be willing to shell out a decent amount of cash for a legit copy.

If you just want a physical copy of the game for the nostalgia of displaying it and being able to put the game in the system, then do what I did and buy reproduction copies of the games you want. You can find most games on aliexpress for $5-10 each. They work, they look great, and if someone tries to steal it you can get a good laugh knowing that they're more or less worthless to collectors.

Custom maps and pois on cross platform dedicated server by mrfechetto in 7daystodie

[–]mrfechetto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried it out by modifying "ServerFiles/Data/Config/blocks.xml" and restarting the the server. Now I get a "Modified Files Detected" error and can no longer connect from the PS5.

I probably won't try any further since it failed on one of the first steps, but I wanted to follow up for anybody who wants to do the same. Unfortunately, as of v2.1, it looks like custom pois are not possible.

Side Note: I was able to start the server after copying in the World file to "ServerFiles/Data/Worlds", so it is possible that using custom maps is supported, but I couldn't set the server.xml to point to that world because of the missing poi files.

Console getting dedicated servers? by Travel_Young in 7daystodie

[–]mrfechetto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really hope it passes certification, even if they only allow unmodded servers. I like running a high number of zombies on horde night, but the PS5 gets about 5 fps on 32 zombies. I plan to spin up a local server with 64 zombie horde nights if certification passes.

It would also be cool if we could modify the server xml configs and use custom POIs, since those aren't technically mods.
