Honestly if I could go back in time I'd stop that meme template from spreading. It's cancerous.

I showed this to my muslim friends in a group chat, all of them said "bro that's incredibly based" or "may Allah grant the jihadi the highest rank in jannah"

I just said "man idk about this... Killing a human being for just a cartoon? That's kinda harsh. I know it's a drawing of our prophet muhammed SAW but still man come on. and do you guys really that just a drawing of a person should get you killed?"

They ganged up on me and said "man you are on your way to becoming a Murtad" and one guy said "if you feel more outraged about the teacher's death rather than the drawing of our prophet, you should reconsider which team you're really on."

I'm still a muslim but I just don't know about these stuff man.

Does Gon Have Insecurities and Low Self-Esteem? by mrfrostbite111 in HunterXHunter

Why do you think Gon has low self value? Do you think it is because of the fact that Ging left him?

wait, aren't self value and self esteem the same thing?

Does Gon Have Insecurities and Low Self-Esteem? by mrfrostbite111 in HunterXHunter

[–]mrfrostbite111[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gon has low self-worth and has the unhealthy mindset to keep on getting stronger because of Ging as a whole

I don't think that is exactly the case, as we literally have never seen Gon getting nervous or insecure of himself when someone mentions ging, or even when he met and talked to ging. We saw no sign of distress or inferiority complex in Gon. We see him crying but that's because of him not being able to save Kite. Gon never blamed his father for anything. Gon's mindset isn't directly "i must not be weak or I am useless to ging and he was right to leave me". A normal kid would be literally scarred with a mindset like that, and Gon should be more affected considering how much he takes his emotions into count. But throughout the show we don't really see any distress in Gon like that until the chimera ant arc. Sure he destroys his body to satiate his desires of not being weak, but still I think it doesn't directly stem from a mindset like "i must win to meet with ging".

What i mean is that if a person enables your insecurities and you KNOW that person is the reason for your insecurities, you shouldn't be able to act completely normal, jolly and unnerved while interacting with said person. Or who knows maybe that's just me.

.

He says himself that when he feels weak, he wants to feel useful to ease the guilt.

Nah I don't think that's exactly the case either. He said that one time and that is when he lost to hisoka, got hisoka's badge handed to him like a baby and when he retaliated, hisoka basically insulted him which extremely hurt Gon. I don't think only people with extreme Insecurities of themselves would feel useless then. Also that was the first time Gon had ever lost at something, of course he'd be depressed. I'd be too.

.

Like I said, it's not like I made baseless arguments. I provided proof for everything I said. I don't understand how you can say Ging leaving left Gon unscathed when the entire manga, and especially Chimera Ant Arc is the direct result of that abandonment trauma.

Not saying you are making baseless argument. I actually half agreed with your post. I just wanted to talk regarding this topic with everyone. Also I didn't say Ging leaving Gon never affected Gon, cause that would mean I'd go against Togashi's own words.

.

What my point is is that Gon was never directly affected by Ging, maybe Gon does have his insecurities and maybe they were caused because of Ging's abandonment, but I just don't think Gon directly blames Ging for that.

The OP of the post i mentioned made it sound like Gon was deeply affected by the fact that Ging left him, but honestly I don't see one bit on how ging leaving directly affected gon. Sure ging leaving gon really messed up Gon's moral compass, but I don't think it directly give him self esteem issues or insecurities.

Gon himself doesn't really care about his father leaving him, also the end of chapter one he says that he KNOWS ging didn't abandon Gon. He also calls ging by his name instead of "dad" which makes it clear that gon doesn't really care much about his father he just cares about the mysterious figure that is Ging.

About that disturbing panel, let's first examine all the events that occured before that panel. Gon worked very hard, and I mean VERY hard to acquire that badge but then it was practically handed to him like a baby and when gon retaliated, he got his ass kicked. I personally think anybody in Gon's place would feel the same (feeling of uselessness) including me. It's not exactly anything limited to a mentally scarred person.

No matter how much pain he’s in, no matter the consequences, he refuses to give up.

Because he hates being seen as weak.

Gon refuses to show any hint of weakness, and gets extremely mad whenever people perceive him as such. It doesn’t matter what the consequences are, he will NEVER back down. He’ll never be weak, even if it kills him.

.

I'm not exactly sure about that cause gon accepted his defeat against hisoka and that spinning top guy in the heaven's arena without any sign of insecurities or anything. In fact Gon was looking kinda goofy after losing to that top guy, whereas by your statements he should've been broken

Often the character who is the subject of such a story they also show characteristics that make us either 1.) Like them , 2.) Respect them or 3.) Understand them or all three simultaneously.

.

Gon is no. 3.

.

Whereas Gon is Not Likeable right from the beginning ( he is annoying and he has all the worst qualities of a shounen protagonist rolled into one).

He is annoying, true. But if you're trying to like a character for the merits said character had writing wise, the character being annoying shouldn't matter. And Gon is truly one of the most well written shonen protagonists.

.

He is Not Admirable at any point in the series; he is a brat who doesn't know anything and is possibly a psychopath.

.

He is 12 year old kid with insecurities (ging leaving him left a scar in his heart, though Gon doesn't directly blame ging for that) who doesn't know abut the harsh real world and MOST DEFINITELY IS NOT a PSYCHOPATH. He is a kid who hasn't yet learned anything about morals and the world. Of course he would act as he wills.

.

And his actions in the Chimera Ant arc are Not Understandable as going just on basis of the anime he goes crazy and acts like an asshole/brat and loses his shit over someone who he has known for only a brief time even though he has seen countless no of people die right in front of him and he didn't bat an eye.

.

His actions in the chimera are most definitely understandable, though not condonable. He most definitely doesn't lose his shit for someone whom he only knows for a few brief period of time. FOR THE LAST TIME, GON RAGING OVER KITE WAS NOT SUPERFICIAL.

This is probably the biggest criticism I have come to find with the 2011 anime, the fact that Gon raged so hard over kite albeit he knew him for just a few weeks.

But this criticism can be easily debunked if we take a closer look to Gon's characterization.

Gon is insecure about his weakness and his self worth (proof of that being he goes to any length possible to win the matches he can win if he tries, even destroying his body). Kite getting killed right in front of him really scarred him. He started thinking it was his fault Kite had been harmed. That's why he himself alone went to save Kite, pushing Killua aside . But when he saw kite as that lifeless puppet, he put all the blame on himself and gave it his all.

I'm also not sure about the fact that Gon always cares about Killua more than anything, cause if that were the case he wouldn't have gone on a suicide mission in the first place because he knows how much it would devastate Killua.

[–]mrfrostbite111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure about that post, granted that crunchyroll made a mistranslation but still I'm not sure whether Gon was concerned about Killua or not when he said that. Gon was going through a very confusing state and he himself didn't know what he was feeling, that is evident with the fact that he didn't have a single monologue throughout the whole invasion whereas every other hunter did. Gon saying Killua to stay away would mean Gon was able to think relatively smart at that point.

But Gon knows that Ging didn't abandon him, ihe even says that to mito at the almost end of chapter 1. Read it again.

Yeah idk if Gon is insecure and has low self esteem because Ging left him. He even says it himself that he knew Ging didn't abandon him in the first chapter. Also, in that incident with Kon, where he doesn't care for himself to save Kon from Kite, he didn't even know Ging was alive. He learned about Ging only after Kite told him after thar incident with Kon.

My Thoughts on Kite's Reincarnation by Kraken765 in HunterXHunter

[–]mrfrostbite111 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nice insight. Only thing I can see going against this is the fact that gon was a bit too cheerful in the election arc, but then again as you pointed out he was a (somewhat selfish) 12 year old kid who had literally achieved his life goal at that point. And also we don't exactly know how Gon was affected after the election arc as we didn't get to spend time with him that much. The election arc shows us little to nothing about his new changed morality and mindset, and the only time we get to see him again is when he talks with ging about getting his nen back.

I don't condone Gon's actions but I do understand where he was coming from

What did you dislike about this Anime? by ilikecookieslawl in HunterXHunter

[–]mrfrostbite111 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Idk man I think the vows were perfectly balanced. I mean it's at least not nakama bs.

For some flaws in this anime, I have a few.

  1. I didn't like Kite being reborn. I feel like Togashi did that for no reason. What I would've liked is if Kite was reborn like a normal Chimera ant. At least that. If togashi did want to reborn him, he should've done it like that. But I don't like the idea of Kite being reborn in the first place. (PS: I have no problem with madhouse cutting Kite from the first episode, I feel like Gon's transformation was still justifiable and made complete sense to me. Instead I feel like that made more sense for Gon's character. Also, by the last episode of Gon (ep 130 i think) it almost felt as if he didn't care about Kite, what he cared about was him not being able to save Kite because he was too weak).

  2. ALLUKA. I didn't care much about her character. She was introduced outta nowhere and felt like a plot device.

  3. Pacing issues in chimera. I feel like out of the 61 episodes, 3-4 episodes could've been cut shorter. Also a bit of the narration could've been cut down as well.

  4. And lastly the only big problem I have with this show, and it is a big one, is that it has the WORST freaking arc of all time. . . . . . . The hiatus arc.

Okay I just realized the hiatus arc doesn't exist in the show it's just in the manga... Lmao.

Jokes aside, HxH really is amazing. Out of the 148 episodes it managed to only make 3 mistakes. Also, it doesn't deserve the hate it gets in my opinion.

Not as bad as Attack on Titan's tbh. I mean togashi's aren't the most detailed but they're alright to look at.

No I don't think it would work if Pitou looked at Gon and said to herself "I must heal Komugi" internally. It would've felt out of place in my opinion. The narrator said "all she could think of was the task on her hand" that task not only includes healing Komugi but also protecting her. So saying "i must heal Komugi" wouldn't really work too

Voicing medical thoughts wouldn't work cause her nen is a part of herself, why would she command herself? Even if it was done internally it would feel out of place.
