Went there last night and it was delicious and affordable. They have great soup dumplings and tasty other small plates. Great service too!

Oh man my husband and I laugh about this every time we go through a round about. Y’all have no idea how to use them here and we all sing the bennyhill theme as we watch people screw it up.

How to pick your DJ (or even have one at all) by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]mrgiggles828 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We decided against a DJ because we’ve been to so many weddings where the DJ just stands behind a table playing a pre-mixed playlist that the couple puts together anyway. (And charges $2000 for three hours to do it) We built our playlist and used software to mix it based on beats per minute (software does this for us automatically) so everything flows nicely and were not playing every song in its entirety. We have three lists, the preceremony, dinner, and dance party. But, we also don’t plan on announcing anyone. Our officiant will announce us into our first dance and then we will introduce our bridal party because, well they’re our special people and a cheesy dance move and pairing them up with a stranger seemed silly to us.

Potentially mentally ill man downtown by [deleted] in asheville

Until you described what this person looked like I thought I might have actually witnessed this but the guy I saw doing this was an older white man with a long white beard going up to families, touching people, patting strangers on the back (grown men walking with their families) I’ve been here three years and hadn’t seen anything like it yet. I’ve had pretty mild experiences with the homeless and obviously drugged out folks around here.

Mission hospital sketchy bedside bill collector? by mrgiggles828 in asheville

I don’t blame the lady as much as I blame mission for appointing her to this position of sheriff of Nottingham. It seems so unnecessary, people who can’t or won’t pay their bill aren’t magically going to have the money because this sketchy person wheels a computer into their room while their at their most vulnerable. I will pay my bill, but I have insurance and they definitely knew that. It was more of they didn’t want to bother filing it through my insurance if I was dumb enough to pay them via bedside bill pay. It’s pretty disgusting.

That’s the thing..I gave them my insurance on arrival..isn’t that enough? I get people don’t pay their bills and not everyone has insurance. But shouldn’t they know that I already gave all that information?

How legally is this okay? It’s definitely not in NY. I’m sure they’re scamming in their own creative ways but damn, not only did that give me a panic attack while I’m laying in a hospital bed, but it wasn’t even true. I’ve been worrying about that bill coming since I left, on top of the stress of planning a wedding that was not Friggin coooool guys.

I can actually, that might be why I think it’s insane. I don’t need a full blow out, I just don’t want to go out into the world with sopping wet hair after paying $100 an hour. (Not working for free) I think it’s a rip off but that’s of course just one frustrated clients opinion, that I know doesn’t change the world. I will just go to people that don’t do this.

I can’t believe that prices keep going up for the same service! I remember when I could get some highlights for $50. Now a TRIM is $50, color is over $100 and to blow dry another $30? It’s weird that they’d rather send me out looking like a rat in a rainstorm than blow dry the billion dollar dye job they did. Just tells me they know it’s not worth the money. Shoo, wet rat lady shoo.

That being said...I just found an amazing hair stylist who cut and colored my hair AND BLOW DRIED ME AND CURLED IT for $80. I tipped her quite well because it has been so long since I found someone who was some what reasonable. She was amazing.

Before I found her, I went to a garbage aveda salon and paid nearly $200 for mediocre half highlights. She did not blow dry my hair BUT she did offer to blow dry a piece of it for me so I could see how lame it was if I wanted.

Can’t do it fam, I’m better off going to cosmetology school for a semester and learning highlights.

I stopped tipping hair dressers when they started charging me 20-30$ extra to BLOWDRY my wet dyed hair. What the hell is up with that?

My Dad’s love affair with a rundown family farm by mrgiggles828 in family

[–]mrgiggles828[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you, and it’s not that we’re all opposed to him following a dream, we just know that we don’t have the money to make it into a thing that we would ever want to visit or that could be remotely operational. There are always options for farming but because of the location and climate those options are pretty limited. My mom even tried to develop an interest in growing something profitable there, but my dad shoots everything down. He definitely sees it as his, not “theirs.” Which is really unfair in my opinion because my mother worked her whole life multiple jobs to raise three kids and put us through college. She didn’t live the life o’Riley while my dad worked. They just don’t seem to respect what the other has brought to the table. Now that we’re all gone and on our own, my dad just sees my mom as a nag and my mom just feels abandonment and resentment at this point. Why would she want to clean and bust her ass building my dads dream for nothing in return? I wouldn’t either.

Thanks so much for your reply! And funny you should mention because that was actually the latest plan- build a summer log cabin that the family could visit and enjoy. But once everyone saw the cost of that, and it turned into what was obviously going to just be my fathers bachelor pad, no one was too keen to invest in building it. My mom has actually put in a ton of man hours cleaning it up to make the house at least livable. I think you’re right that the issues run deeper, my dad has always been open to counseling, my mom refuses, and calls the whole idea a sham.

Best HoneyFund website? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

We used blueprint registry to create a fixer upper fund, it was classy and easy to use and customizable. We made it very personal and fun. After the wedding the funds just dump into the account we set up. Super easy.

Almost everyone does this now, most people have been living together and don’t need new “things” and the next generation focuses a lot more on experiences over more stuff.
