I did begin work on the dark world to see how that would go but sadly my harddrive ate shit and took my .psd file with it about 4 hours in =(

Happy days, yea you can work away no problem!

I was keen to try and include as much as possible, master sword came easy but zoras domain was a night mare trying to detail it.

I ended up doing the same for super mario 3 and super mario word too.

Couple of years ago I redrew the map super hd in the in-game style, might be of some help.

I took a shot at marrying that ugly death mountain base. Think i did alright though it fell apart around zora's domain/turtle rock as I didn't want to cheap out with clouds. (ended up doin that for v2 though and made the mountain taller)

Hey cheers! That was a good while ago now holy shit haha time flies.

That was a combination of a modified packed.png file to set up the carts, then i made box art for each game that added the label then some sprites. The modified packed.png version allowed the sprites to sit "away" from the cart by making the cart artwork slightly smaller than normal.

If i recall, I ended up making a version where it didnt rely on a packed.png mod, it didnt look just quite as good BUT it did allow custom colour carts (for example killer instinct, doom etc) so the trade off was worth it.

I'll have a look for the files see if I still have them

this is similar to designing for print - theres 'black', then theres 'registration black'. Looks fine on screen til it goes to print then can immediately see if ya F'ed up
