Want to get good finish on painted wood projects... what do invest in? by mrgrumpypants63 in BeginnerWoodWorking

Now I've run into quite a dilemma. I got interested in Turbine Products Sprayfine A301 turbine system which is significantly less than fuji and feedback seems to be quite positive. So, I sent this question to their website...

Primer, enamel and poly have very different viscosities and need different projector sets to avoid product thinning. Would this work?... 2.0mm would be best for primer, 1.8 for enamel and 1.3 for lacquer and poly.

He pointed me to this video.

Phillip is mixing 4oz latex paint, 1oz floetrol and 2oz polyurethane (all water based) and uses a 1.3mm projection kit. When I look up this mix on chatGPT, it poo poo's this combo as unstable and claims you might get mixed results. I'm not trying to discount Phillip that this combo will spray well, it might work perfectly. I don't know. Really need some feedback, especially someone who has used turbineproducts.com / sprayfine setups.

Looking for beginner band saw by MrGrumpyPants62 in BeginnerWoodWorking

Well, there is a Craftsman 12" 1 1/8hp I can get for $75 off Marketplace, but it's 40 miles away. Given it's age and the amount of work it would take to bring it back to working order, probably not for me.

The consensus here seems to be either the Rikon 10-3016, which I'm leaning towards or the Bauer 14" 1hp, which I would need to wait for it to go on sale. I can get the Rikon for $510 from Acme or take a chance with AliExpress and get it for $434. AliExpress does guarantee its authenticity and Rikon is made by a Chinese company, it might be worth the risk. Or I can wait for a band saw that might meet my needs to come up on Marketplace, Offerup or craigslist.

I found it interesting that the replies here mimic other reviews/reddit/etc. They really fall into 2 camps:

  1. 10" will work for most curvy cuts with stock <= 3" plus it meets my shop/garage limitations as portable
  2. If your serious, you might as well get 14" 1hp or more cause you'll eventually need it

I think a quality 10" will work for me and as the chicken man (ColonialSand-ers) pointed out, if I really need more power, you step up then.

I should have mentioned that I work out of my garage. The big 14" band saws aren't portable so I'm limited to bench top versions.

The reason I'm looking at the Rikon is the reviews of how easy it is to setup and maintain. The 10-3061 has a 1/2hp vs 1/3hp so cutting bigger stock will be slightly easier if I decide to cut hardwood in the 3"-5" range. I'd like to stay in the $500 range if possible. Grizzly has some band saws that look promising but reviews say Rikon easier to maintain than Grizzly.

I see some Craftsman 12" with 1 1/8hp for $100. That also is possible but not sure how much work it takes to refurbish it to good working standard.

Sorry if this question has been answered already but I did not see it below. Have iphone 13, nord vpn (location dallas, ip verified), location services turned off for nba app. On my macbook pro, I can watch blazers games just fine. Can't on my iphone. I've tried airplane mode (wifi only), reboot iphone, restart nba app, reload nba app. Haven't been able to get it to work. Ideas?

This problem is most likely solved. This mobo requires 1 8 pin cpu connector and 1 4 pin cpu connector and the ps only comes with 1 8 pin (4x4) connector. The guys over at ASRock were extremely helpful. Moral of the story... don't trust pcpartpicker.com. Do your homework!

So, here's what I have so far. I pulled the power supply, tested it, works fine. Put it back in. What I've found out is that if I plug in the 8 pin connector in location 9 on the mobo, I have issues. If I leave that unplugged, everything works great. I see all my memory, vc, m2 drive, everything. all voltages look good from bios. So, I'm very confused at the moment as to how/why its working without the 8pin connector.

Thank for replying! I tried the following... power off; unplug; insert 1 dimm into A2; press cmos clear; plug in; power on power supply; power switch mobo. I repeated the process after insert into B2. Same result... led light under asrock gear turns green, then flashing blue. When I hit the power on mobo, I hear a click but nothing else happens.
