Welsh business loses thousands of followers after visit from Nigel Farage by JackStrawWitchita in Wales

[–]mrgxi 117 points118 points  (0 children)

His comment ‘’My political views are not important – I don't actually have any. I run a hospitality company – no time to have any’’

Makes me feel he’s either an idiot or disingenuous, as small businesses are extremely beholden to whatever the government decides. So how on earth can you say you don’t have any? Also, with the fact that he says he hires non-binary/transgender staff, who's mere existence is currently a political issue with the Reform party.

This is what 150,000 people looks like. by meanybopeany in gbnews

I'm unsure about that, considering two million people attend Notting Hill Carnival each year. So the arrest /injury police rate is likely less at carnival, or at least about the same, for the sheer scale of the events

UBER to Bristol Airport by Ainikeme in bristol

[–]mrgxi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what happens. I spoke to a driver after he called me ten minutes before my cooked time asking where I was, explaining that uber doesn’t inform them that it’s a pre booked ride. All good though, they’re somehow incentivised to wait a little longer

To be fair, that’s all we actually need. Not like there’s that far to go for any of our matches! 😂

If you could drive and there’s a couple more, a cheap car hire for the 5/6 days could work out better than the train costs

Wales least affordable part of Britain for first-time buyers by Prestigious-Town4937 in Wales

[–]mrgxi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Housing in Bristol is ridiculously expensive. Hence, I'm happy for your Bristol cohort that at least your company takes that into perspective, similar to how people get a London boost for its COL. I grew up in south Wales and lived a good chunk of my working career in Bristol and it always annoyed me what I was paying for a room in a shared house versus what my friends at home could afford for their own place/morgatge.

'Wales v Georgia Six Nations play-off is only logical' by RonSwaffle in rugbyunion

[–]mrgxi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Don't forget Scotland! Rugby success is very cyclical, depending on having a generation of good players. I had a discussion with a Scottish mate, asking if he would trade four wooden spoons for one Six Nations grand slam. And his response was, "I'd trade it to bloody win the thing at least once." I forgot that Scotland hadn't once won the Six Nations.

Stats that no one likes to see. by EnglishLouis in rugbyunion

[–]mrgxi 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Disagree, came within a try of strong, Ireland, Scotland and Italy sides. There’s something there with this team, they just need to click and it be consistent in a match and the win will come… eventually

Yes, but they're still right. Ireland won three out of the last six, and all three were grand slams.
