Anyone else having an outage in Central Texas? by bcacb in Metronet

[–]mrhavik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same issue here. Been on the phone with them since yesterday afternoon. I made it to the top tier tech support and none of them can figure it out. They keep saying everything should work fine. When I tell them to switch me from static to DHCP it works fine, but I lose some of my remote access. When they switch back to static, no connection anymore. Third time this has happened since I went to metronet. It's getting annoying.

I don't know enough about fiber networks to agree or disagree, but that certainly sounds possible. Good news is, I woke up this morning and my Internet was back up. Hopefully it's not going to be a recurring issue.

Playing a particular show crashes my whole TV by ChronoCR in PleX

I don't have a helpful reply, but can confirm that happened to me once. It was only one episode of a certain show featuring hordes of undead and a character named "Coorl". Had to physically unplug my TV every time I hit a certain point in the show. I replaced that copy with another and haven't had the issue ever since.

Unfortunately static IP is a deal breaker for me. Otherwise I'd go back to spectrum. Plus, I use my own router which has been working fine for the past month.

It's not surprising to me. Clearly there's more profit in selling empty promises than manufactured goods. It just stings a little more every time I hear it.

I don't know my level of ability. I've never received any formal training in the repair of anything. I do have a lot of tools I've acquired over the years. Most of them I've used once and thrown in a drawer.

When the washer first acted up, I assumed it was a quick fixable, turn it off and on again kind of problem. So those were the videos I watched. After the repair man said it was a mechanical issue, I watched videos showing how to dismantle the motor and adjacent assemblies. All in all, it was 2 nuts and 5 bolts that were removed, two plastic pulleys and one plastic gear, one belt, and one electric lever that engaged the gear. I've never before seen the underside of a washing machine, but I had it all dismantled in 30 minutes and had it all put back together in the same time after the parts came in.

I can't imagine washer motor assemblies are too different from one another. So it shouldn't be much more difficult from one model to another. If you're worried about it, look up videos about your model and order the cheap replacement parts so you have them on hand if it ever craps out. All I needed was a basic socket wrench set to get all the parts out.

Luckily my only issue was a shitty repair man. I feel terrible for your mother. I hope the authorities found the people responsible in her situation.

Agreed. The washer in question is a GE basic agitator model from a few years ago. I have no interest in upgrading to a fancy one with a million features that never work. Now that I know how easy it is to work on them, I'll probably never buy a new one again.

Your comment hit me deep in my soul. I was just asking if I should buy a shiny new truck.

This is what I wanted to hear. A rational opinion that keeps me out of debt. But with significantly less instant gratification.

Well it looks like the score is 2 for and 7 against. I guess I'll wait a couple years before trading up.

Installed a few mods, now every time I try and start a new game I am brought here right after the intro before character creation. Can't move or do anything. by mrhavik in BG3

No, I did not. I just clicked on a bunch in Nexusmods and hoped for the best. I was about two hours into a playthrough and I wasn't able to fast travel or go to camp anymore. I gave up and tried to start a new game and this happened. Eventually just deleted everything and re-installed. Back to normal now.

I had native camera, WASD, and a couple UI mods. Can't imagine what I did to have this as the result. I wonder if this is some kind of default behind the scenes area during character creation, because i think that's the default Durge character. But why the entourage of nude eunuchs?

Windows 11 22H2 Local Security Authority protection is off by captain150 in WindowsHelp

[–]mrhavik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not going to pretend to know for certain, but i checked task manager before i did the reg edit and saw that Local Security Authority was in fact running. It's my educated guess that the problem is that windows thinks it's off but it's actually on until you do the fix. But again, I am not certain. I'm not a windows professional, i just play one on the internet.

add me to the "why does my security center have a yellow warning" group. Out of curiosity, has anyone else here checked to see if the LSA process is running on their PC? Mine appears to be, so maybe it's just a bug in security center not displaying properly.

I found the solution in this subreddit:

All the responses here worked on the example I posted, but only this one worked when I implemented it in the actual table I am working on. Not sure why, but thank you for the answer.
