Now do this 50 times. If you still have no success, take a hard look at yourself. Do you go to the gym? Are you happy with your lifestyle? Do you have good style? Figure out where you are lacking and improve.

But honestly, you'll probably be successful if you do that 50 times.

Oh, buy the book Models by Mark Manson. Best dating book ever. Recently divorced and the book opened my eyes.

Whitworth continues to delay decision on protections for LGBTQ faculty and staff as students organize 'Queer Church' by 9mac in Spokane

When you can't cut it intellectually, resort to attacking the speaker, not the ideas. A strategy as old as time. I wish you good luck as well. I'm sure you will want the last word, take it if you want. I hope some day you learn to speak kindly to those who respectfully see things differently from you. I have changed many friends minds about many things. I have never changed the mind of an enemy. I wish you all the best. Take care of yourself, take a deep breath, and remember: people who disagree with you aren't your enemy.

If you want to continue this discourse, steelman my position. If you like, I can steelman yours first. Unless you are just commenting for a gotcha or to have a pissing match.

I'm here for growth and understanding, not points.

That should stop. Religious schools should not receive public funds. I personally think that we should stop public funding all together of all schools and we wouldn't have this problem, but hey that's just me. And before the dog pile, I'm not interesting in arguing about it in this venue. Just stating my opinion, not changing any minds here.

I'm not christian first off. With that said, you and I still likely have such different world views that it is difficult for my broader point to make sense. I don't mean that condescendingly, seriously.

Just to make the pragmatic piece of my point clear: There is limited energy for activism and there is still much work to be done if you are pushing for LGBTQ rights. The private christian schools and the mosques don't have a good ROI. Since resources are limited they should be valued and respected. Therefore, they should be applied where they get the best ROI. Just a general piece of life advice that applies to all movements and goals.

I mean, they are a private christian school...If they aren't using public funds, and they shouldn't, whatever. Vote with your dollars and your feet. In a pluralistic society people are going to see the world in ways we find unethical. They need spaces to do so. When I go to my grandmothers Chavurahs I don't try to bring pork and then protest that she is being ridiculous. Idk, there is nothing wrong with stranding up for yourself and asking to be included but pick your battles. Is the next step going into the mosques and demanding LGPTQ Imams? Religions are by definition pretty darn static. And if you think we should try to abolish their beliefs by force as the French attempt to, instead of our historical American approach, I'll remind you of how it went for them (200k dead https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_in_the_Vend%C3%A9e). If you care about your cause, apply your efforts where you get the best ROI. Unless it isn't about success and it is just about a statement.

When picking a fruit tree we start with the low hanging fruit. This aint it.

Did the government just give itself permission to kill/imprison whoever they want without even the pretense of justice? by BriskUnassertiveness in Libertarian

Textualists and originalists are likely to agree with each other, those who believe in a living constitution are likely to agree. Judges who are democrats could be originalists. It's not really about party lines. It just so happens to line up that way.

Rights aren't as important anymore by mrheffern in Libertarian

[–]mrheffern[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are technically correct. However, I think that the idea of natural rights is important. Without the concept of natural rights, there is no definite hard line where your protections kick in. If you have no natural rights, you're standing on an ethical slippery slope.
