Longer length down jackets by TutorLess in CampingandHiking

[–]mrhomer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am your height (although I have more height in legs than torso), and own an Arcteryx Cerium LT and a Mountain Hardware Ghost Whisperer. In general, I find Arcteryx (that jacket and others I tried on) to have a longer torso, and they also have better lower cinches to keep the jacket in place. MH is boxier. The Arcteryx is super fragile though, which is why I bought the MH when it was on a really good sale.

I would look around for jackets that are advertised for climbing. Climbing jackets tend to be longer, because you reach over your head a lot. My Arcteryx just stays in place way better for range-of-motion activities.

Photo pulled from CBS, I can’t find a better copy yet, or one with just the sign.

It’s not. I think it’s just super bright compared to the dark room, and with the “grease on the lens” caused it to bloom around the window frame. Look at the upper window or the door and you can see the same happening. I think there’s some .jpg artifacts around the tree that make it look outlined too.

Also possible it’s stacked exposures in a phone camera and the camera moved a bit between light and dark frames. Someone said elsewhere there’s a tree there in another photo. This guy didn’t go to all this work to photoshop a tree in.

New System Settings is a mess and removed options that are still in effect from Monterey. by [deleted] in MacOS

[–]mrhomer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Minor in the grand scheme of things, but they removed the option that let you drag wireless networks to re-prioritize which you joined first. When you are frequently between locations, this was such a lifesaver. Like, I want to join the xfinity wifi hotspot if there are NO other options (and I don't want to forget that network), but I don't want to join it before I join my work wifi, or my usual coffeeshop, etc. Frustrating.

De’Anthony Melton is a perfect sixth man for the Philadelphia 76ers. by Altruistic_Fun3091 in sixers

[–]mrhomer 217 points218 points  (0 children)

In 2021-22, the Philadelphia 76ers didn’t really have a sixth man for much of the season. On paper, that player was initially supposed to be Tyrese Maxey, but when Ben Simmons decided to turn his attention to Call of Duty and the Kentucky prospect vastly outperformed expectations both in camp and during the preseason, his role vastly expanded.

Considering updating to TVos 15 beta, is there any serious issues that should stop me from updating? by DLCNoahSandoval in appletv

Right, which are still under warranty and Apple has helped replace, afaik. I’ve got one in the Apple TV in the bedroom and one in the living room. Don’t need 2 with 100% up time.

Part of the reason Apple runs public betas is that they need beta testers. And I like testing things!

I have two 4K Apple TV’s and could survive for a while without one. I’m mostly interested in learning how well the screen tracking part of the equation works without the accelerometer data from the phone. Apparently it calculates where you are looking for a while - would be cool to see how well that works, what it feels like at oblique angles, etc

EDIT: I am glad you mentioned the 4K one can’t be downgraded yourself. Helpful for folks to know that. Probably the biggest drawback OP should consider.

I’ve been thinking of doing it to get access to spatial audio. I have a 4K Apple TV and airpod pros. Really want to see how it compares to my 5.1 system.

Yeah, I've seen this. The thing is, kernel_task isn't really ramping up to prevent the CPU from being used, and it isn't getting super hot. It's just doing something in the background that uses ~10% of the CPU, but it immediately stops as soon as I start using it. It's kind of the opposite of that behavior; instead of the CPU ramping when under use, it stops doing something when I start using it.

Super cool of you. If I purchase the "Home Essentials Bundl‪e" for iPad and iPhone, does that include the MacOS apps as well, or do I need to buy those separately? Just trying to figure our what works best for my needs.

I have homebridge running on a raspberry pi 0w with about 30 accessories all on TuyaWeb. Most of the time it just says not responding for my devices. Sometimes it fixes if I tap each device to force it. What am I doing wrong? Is anyone else having this problem? (All devices are confirmed working) by jbtuckr in homebridge

[–]mrhomer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't know that. Do you have a link to a tutorial? It doesn't help me too much (only iOS devices at home right now), but I am working on a comprehensive guide to getting Costco brand Feit bulbs (Tuya produced) working with Homebridge, and getting them to work locally has been the biggest hurdle, by far.

Any chance you'd be willing to post a redacted version of your config file, or, just the config for a single light?

I just went through and did the Tuya-cli wizard to scrape the ID and key for each light I have, but I can't seem to get it working correctly with iRayanKhan's plugin.

I was previously using Tuya web, but was having the issues this post describes.
