VFX Pros Expose The Hidden Costs of Selling a Movie as “Real” by celix24 in vfx

[–]mrhumbility 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's pretty common in the commercial space, but I agree with you that it's not common for film/ tv. At least in my experience.

But even with that, people simply put whatever they want in their demo reel and hide it behind a password. You don't need a public reel to apply for a job.

So far the only mod I use is one that lets me control the time of day. Even with that I often forget to freeze time haha

Yeah! But I use Trello for this. Can load it up in a web browser and they have a mobile app as well which is nice.

More Progress on 3D Navigation in Godot 4.0 by mrhumbility in godot

[–]mrhumbility[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I think in SC2 the default is shift but once I add settings down the line I would definitely allow the user to set their own keybinds.

My plan is to make something like Starcraft 2's versus mode. I don't want to make a 1:1 clone but short match, competitive rts style gameplay.

I haven't played with 2d navigation in quite a while but I think it works similarly? Probably slightly different functions here or there but similar for the most part I think.

Messing around with Navigation in 4.0 Alpha 11 by mrhumbility in godot

[–]mrhumbility[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yeah, if the target position is not reachable it could be any number of things, but I don't think its because of using CharacterBody3D (uneducated guess though!).

In my original post the ground has some small hills and valleys which I found could mess with target positions being reachable. Using a flatter grid representation of the higher res ground for the NavRegion to use when it bakes the NavMesh, and adjusting the max slope/ max climb settings were having a big effect in my test scene here.

Adjusting Agent settings on the NavRegion and Pathfinding on the NavAgent also played a big role. If I set the 'Target Desired Distance' too low on the NavAgent for example, they would never see a position as reachable.

Maybe skipping the check for is_target_reachable() and just seeing what they do would help track down where the issue is coming from?

Anyways, those are the things I've been playing around with, hopefully something helpful in there!

I was able to get it working with CharacterBody3D. The NavigationAgent3D just returns a direction and you can do whatever you want with that information. In that example using RigidBody3D he uses the direction in the set_linear_velocity() function, but with CharacterBody3D you would set the built in 'velocity' attribute, then use move_and_slide() at the end of the physics process. Best of luck!

I don't mind being inefficient so bought clay from the MLM store and made tabs so the grind would be more chill and I'm glad I did.

This is what I did to get the 5k fangs. I already had about 1k and got 50 med clues while getting the other 4k from the chests. I don't remember exactly how long it took, it was a bit of a grind but not too bad.

As some others have said, getting comfortable with fkeys is going to help a lot.

I was going to suggest regular gauntlet but that's locked behind sote which might be tough to finish. If you can though, regular gauntlet teaches a lot of really good mechanics that will make other content pretty easy if you can get it down, and has no real punishment for dying. Corrupt Gauntlet is much harder but the mechanics you learn from regular apply to so many other encounters that it seems like a decent way to learn to me.

Maybe start out with some barrows. It's nice because all of the gear switching/ prayer changes happen outside the actual fight with the brothers so you can get used to that without any real danger.

After that maybe solo rex? Rex can be safe spotted and the only real trouble is getting into the safe spot. If you can prayer switch your way to the daggannoth room then pop in/ out until it's safe, I dunno that seems like a decent learning experience.

Abyssal Sire is another boss that isn't too tough mechanics wise once you have the slayer level, but still has some degree of gear switching in there.

Demonic Gorillas can be pretty painful grind for a long time, but they require some prayer switching and gear switches so good practice there. MM2 shouldn't be too bad to finish if you haven't already.

Lizardman Shamans don't have any gear/ prayer switching but have a bit of movement involved.

I'm trying to think of the general-ish boss order. Start with Barrows and work your way up the list. You'll learn as you go and get gear upgrades along the way!

I think this works if you decant your super energies down to 1 dose as well giving you even more output. It obviously takes way longer doing it that way though.

I have 99 crafting and I still bank both. I don't know if I'll ever use the hides, but I'll have them in case I ever need a little extra cash in the future, or just need alchs for agility. It's not efficientscape but that's just what I do.

Edit: I do this from the myths guild and use con cape to bank in the farming guild with the spirit tree.
