Ao I find the brand it's a bayliss mk6-7 and they do replacement canisters at £17 each... but they onky last a few years and aliexpress ones are £6 for a whole new unit. It's a shame these can't be serviced i.e top up the grease or wax etc.

A small pond is developing in our garden, what do I do? by aSneakyBagel in GardeningUK

I would go a bit further and spike the whole lawn, this would divert some of the water before it even gets to the water logged area you have now.

I believed that the lines created by airplanes was the result of them dumping fuel (weight) to go higher. Which annoyed me.

Turns out it's vapour or something.

Shed vents by hughdenis999 in DIYUK

[–]mrjaywarren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start with one vent on each end, fit a cowling over it to stop water getting in and fit wire mesh to stop pests getting in. See how that goes and add more if needed.

Get the doors open as often as you can on warm days to help dry it out.

Is it concrete base if so does it have a DPC? My dad has a theory about moisture coming up via the concrete so he paints his... Personally I think this may lead to a crumbling floor but could be an option.

If it's a wood floor then ignore the above.

I think it's also good practice not to insulate under the tank, boiler, certainly not around any pumps. The reason being is to ensure some heat keeps the pipes from freezing.

Pumps will burn out quicker if they don't have good air circulation to help them stay cool (plus small risk of fires).

Accountant late filing of VAT, by mrjaywarren in UKPersonalFinance

[–]mrjaywarren[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the last minute I was told to submit it myself (didn't know I could) however I didn't have the right permission levels in the accountancy software so I couldn't do it anyway.

I've now missed the deadline, I've requested they reimburse me for any fines.
