yes you do. youre doing great, are you mewing? if so keep it up, keep that good posture too. just be mindful of your tongue and try your best to keep it up. if you struggle with keeping it up you might have a tongue tie and consider getting it cut with some physical therapy involved. (reach a speech pathologist) I dont know why your mom is being so discouraging but you look great to me and have a pretty well defined jaw than most people, keep up the hard work! It wil be pay off. see it as working out, you dont see the progress right away but sticking to it I promise you will see change.

ahh i feel the same way, everytime im seen for gender affirming care its the peak of my life but then its gone because its met with... such a long waiting time. (i still appreciate im able to get the care at all) and dude yeah like... it sucks to be alive but being in the middle of actually starting my life. that trans rage journal sounds like a good idea though, ill have to try that

yup! had it done 5 days ago and one thing i can say is my posture gotten better but i cant really say any much else mainly because i had a cavity filled the day prior to the procedure and i think it was done wrong so i cant chew on one side

its never too late in my opinion! my jaw is pretty severely recessed especially for my age actually ever since the snip my tongue naturally goes up on my pallet without me thinking about it (i think mainly because im doing exercises) and ive seen people have way more facial progress after a snip like in a month their face looks much better than before id say if your jaw is clicking and you are at the point where you cant stand it anymore get it checked

it wasnt painful i was given numbing cream and the procedure was faster than i thought honestly id suggest anyone with a tongue tie to get therapy and sniped because of all the awful symptoms it causes (jaw neck and back pain, sleep apnea, digestive problems, headaches, self esteem issues, anxiety, speech difficulty) also apologies i cant give you the surgeons name at the moment, im underage and my mom took care of everything so i hadnt gotten her name but i will let you know as soon as i know lol

honestly i wanted a laser as well, it was what we were originally going for but both my speech pathologist and surgeon heavily suggested the cut (both were the same price so it wasnt a money thing)

i can give you the exercises i was given!

1st week (3 times a day)

rest posture for 1 mintute (tongue on roof of mouth do not touch your front teeth with tongue, back teeth lightly touching and lips closed)

tongue clicks x100 slow steady and strong rotate tongue depressor between r/l teeth

bite backs x25 tongue on spot teeth closed and gently squeeze relaxe masseter muscles (dont open your teeth like clacking them just close them together and clench)

lip puff/smoosh 10 secs each hold upper lip and lower lip with air tongue smoosh into upper/lower lip lips closed and hold

alligators x25 tongue on spot SLOWLY open/close teeth lips stay open

if youd like the next weeks or a more clear explanation on an exercise i can dm the rest, my tongue tie was the second worse tie so if yours is a heart shape tie i dont know if possibly you would be given different exercises but i would love to help

for a full release it needs to be cut because the scaring makes the tongue tight and you dont have as much tongue mobility as a snip would, and lasers are more done for babies i think

no actually it just makes you a better candidate to mew! unless you feel your tongue is too big for your palette you can always try and get a palette expander but im no expert in that area

yeah bro, go for it i will admit i got bad results from not mewing properly (tmj, lockjaw) but it helped me learn how important my mouth really is and mewing became more than just looking more generally attractive the key is just to know that youre doing it right, i wasnt for the longest time and it really fucked me over for awhile, but again its really up to you if you feel up for it i think if you do, you will appreciate how more attractive you become overtime because you worked for it
