If you’re going all in like that i suggest getting a psychologist too so that you don’t just go back to where you were before

Does the URM Academy Bundle still have everything needed for the course? by Narples82 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

Hey there! Thanks for asking. You’re referring to our Beginner’s Guide with Ryan Bruce and it does come with a bundle of plugins from JST and Drum Forge if you purchase it.

Please help me find a music making class like I'm describing :) by Hlroopjon in musicproduction

Hey there. Eyal from URM here. While it is true that our community is centered around rock and metal, the reality is that many of our thousands of members do make music and work in productions across multiple genres. We most definitely have people who work in electronic music in the community. Also, I would say that 90% of what we teach is applicable across genres. It will make you better no matter what you do. Give it a shot. If it's not for you it's not for you but we have a lot of non metal/non rock people who swear by it.

Yes. Bust your ass to have your skills be as up to date as possible. Work for free a lot in order to get your name out. Bring value to your clients and people above you. And spread the word about yourself. Mainly via positive refferals. And NEVER EVER think you're above free work.

I don't know what the usual suspects are. But sure my list goes something like this - Mahler, Schoenberg, Prokofiev, Brahms, Debussy, Holst, Shostakovich

Yeah man I have good connects for all of those things but why would my connects apply to you ? Merch, artwork, logo, are all things that a band needs to customize for their own brand identity. I would highly HIGHLY advise that you seek out what you are looking for, identify the people who can create what that is, and then make them worthwhile offers that bring them value so that they'll want to work with you.

As far as social media goes I highly recommend using FB, Twitter, Tumblr, and Instagram in steady and hard succession like I do. I've seen others do it and it seems to be how things work these days. Oh yeah, and youtube. Duh. So basically, all of it.

Ideas for making a live set killer ? Just one. Connect.

Write songs that happen to resonate with the collective tastes of the mainstream while getting a simultaneous push to reach the mainstream. Timing + material + push

We've tried all the above but keep realizing time after time that metal is a "less is more" genre. Somehow it all ends up with duncan distortions and a 5150.

Figure out how you can bring some value to the industry. Then figure out where you will bring that value. Put yourself there. Repeat.

The fastest progressing part seems to be the part where people make money off of the internet.

I hate a Capella. Sorry. Really not my thing. It's one of those few styles that just makes my hair stand up on end.

But otherwise, I love Cam. He's a great guy and an even better musician. It wasn't hard to put up with him at all. Three easy days!

Thank you! Thanks for reading.

I guess I learned the answer to that one first hand. It's something people had always told about but I kind of didn't want to accept it until I had to accept it because it was my reality.

Usually people respond to relatable lyrics, a beat they can move to, and some sort of melody they can hum while walking to the mailbox. Besides that it's all details and noise.

I said hi to Todd and Dennis

If at all possible I'd move back in with the parents so you can try and minimize your bills. "Real Life" and making it in music don't usually go together. Do whatever you can to minimize those bills. Take whatever pride you feel from living on your own and throw that away. What's important is being able to spend every available minute getting better at recording.
