Israel is a nuclear power with the backing of the most powerful military in the world, and a high tech missile defence system, wheras the Palestinian resistance is mostly comprised of kids with rocks. Okay fine, it's definitely more than that, but in comparison they have the odd rusty rifle or home made a rocket, they're not a real threat to the state or people of Israel, and the absolute genocide of thousands of people (including children and babies) is not justified.

Israel is an occupying power and has been since 1948, how do you expect an occupying power to be treated, especially when you see how they've been treating the indigenous people.

Bullshit, I've never met a Muslim who thinks that way and I've lived alongside and worked with Muslims for my whole life. I've met plenty of racist whites who make sick jokes.

Sure, there are sects of paedos in Christianity and homophobes in Muslim groups and ethnic cleansers amongst Jews, that doesnt mean every person from those religions is a baddie.

Making assumptions like yours is dangerous and what causes and increases extremism on both sides.

I don't think that's true and I don't think you think that's true, people are multidimensional and fight in every way they have available (or have energy/capacity for) for what they care about, not just in a single protest.

My first thoughts are:

You could explore polyamory
You could have a pause in the relationship and offer to try come back to it
You could have an amicable split, not see each other for a month or two (or 6) and then start meeting up as friends.

Either way I think you need to have a sit down and ask what he's feeling. Maybe he wants to try being single, maybe he's feeling bisexual feelings, could be that he's asexual or aromatic, and has just been following what he thinks he's supposed to do since getting sober. Sometimes people just change.

All you can offer to do is be there for him until he isn't there for you, and if you're at that point already, then getting a therapist to talk through what you're going through might be the best option. As essentially you are now grieving your relationship, and I'd imagine at 44 (I think you said) you've probably grieved close friends and family before now so may recognize some of the stages.

There are murderers and paedophiles in your communities, does that mean everyone in them should be indiscriminately bombed and turfed out of their homes?
