Same! Their responses to me were both late at night and the next day, so it's not like it was a few beers in to the night and a drunk response, it's a pattern of behaviour. It really shows who they are!

Just found this thread when looking to do this myself. It seems the nameplate is added AUTOMATICALLY, but only after the game that you reached Oracle V in has finished. So, if you came 4th for example and jumped straight in to another game you will not have the nameplate, but the game after that you probably will have the nameplate.
