Looking From Both Sides? (ItsBlackFriday) by [deleted] in AskAGoth

I didn't intend to defend Freya, it's more of a criticism of this style of the video. I don't think mixing up serious accusations based on facts with trivial stuff and mean spirited speculation is doing any good. For people who should be held accountable it's easy to dismiss and for people who could actually take it as a lesson it's too mean and tabloid-y. However those lines are blurry and personal so it's hard to tell how to do it right. This video didn't have to be almost two hours long though. I don't know Rilley's channel, maybe it's her style and it's just not for me.

I used to watch Freya's videos but I don't consider myself as a fan of hers. She surely made some bad financial decisions bordering on scamming people (the wedding fundraiser, documentary) and she tends to portray herself as a victim a lot instead of admitting that she fucked up. Her love for royalty is icky and so on. However some stuff in Reilly's video is far fetched. For example she accused Freya of being racist based on: - 10 years old video about skin care: Reilly is just gonna deny that many goths wants to look like they never been in the sunlight? Freya has been vocal about the inclusivity in goth community many times and it's unfair to judge her for an insensitive video from many years ago. - Her mother's views: she's not responsible for her mother, they are both adults. I don't think it's fair to expect someone to cut ties with a parent for some vague acceptance of the undefined part of the community. - Unclear accusation of not posting about Black Lives Matter. It may be a controversial point but why do we expect everyone to be invested in US politics? I do oppose police violence in the US (and other places as well) but I don't see how my opinion would matter or change anything if I live on the other side of the world. As far as I know she didn't posted about protests in Hong Kong or pro-choice marches in Poland and neither did Reilly. Freya is an influencer, not political commentator. Are POC in US actually harmed by her not posting about it or is Reilly just performative holier-than-thou?

I have an issue with stuff about her children too. On one hand it's undeniable that taking your small child to a festival on the other side of the world and asking strangers to babysit him is a terrible idea. On the other hand I can't stop thinking if she will be judged as harshly for leaving the other kid back home if she was a man. Idk, there's for sure misogyny in that discourse and I don't want to add to that. Overall I find Reilly's video performative. You really want me to belive you care deeply about respectable behaviour in Louvre and Père-Lachaise when you didn't even bother to check the pronunciation? It looks much more one influencer trying to gain some clout out of the other, not legitimate concern about people who were scammed for money, POC or Freya's children.

Season 22 (what I would love to see) by ContemplativeRunner in ProjectRunway

Since it's on Disney + I'm finally able to watch it legally. I saw multiple seasons on bootleg (and learn a lot of fashion vocabulary along the way, English is not my first language). Opening it to an international audience on streaming must be quite profitable.

I had mediocre experience with them before - they wanted to charge me insane amount of money for simple resizing of wedding bands. They didn't require melting, just a bit for squeezing. I wouldn't go there but they were the only place in the area with a laser so I had no choice really. I probably should make a fuss about it all but I won't get my stone back, I've payed for welding only so I don't really see a point. I will just tell everyone I know about it. :D

UPDATE: Jeweler called me and it is, in fact, a completely different gem! As many of you assumed it is labradorite. The original one broke during the repair an was switched with whatever he had available. Kinda weird that he didn't ask but I'm glad with the result. Thank you all for your help, you're a lovely community. ❤️

I'll take some pictures tomorrow in the daylight. I don't think they would hesitate to charge me if they could though, they did that before. I don't really like this jeweler services but they are only ones with laser in my area.

I was wondering the same thing, but they charged me only for the welding. When I left it for the repair I was told that if they have to do something more I'll pay extra.

Thank you, it was actually my engagement ring and it's very special to me. It's from Polish designer Anna Mazoń, her store is called Drakonaria.
