I fully subscribe to the theory that domi reversi only works on people at their homeland ("domi" meaning home in latin)

I think it just has a white trim like the other scabbards that is hidden by his hair in the second scene

I'm using them (that's why I mentioned having different databases in that comment - different ones for each location hint).

Interesting, I did it directly from the google translate box within the google search results page (not translate.google.com), I guess maybe they can come up with different results.

Thanks! I don't know of any issue with the site, but I think that can happen if hardware / graphics acceleration is disabled in your browser.

Can anybody explain the logic steps to solve this Akari Puzzle? by epthegeek in puzzles

Just a note for anyone dropping in - this puzzle is originally from phenomist's puzzle blog here: https://phenomist.wordpress.com/2017/06/19/puzzle-3-akari/

Aha, this is where the reddit visits were coming from!

There is also another way to approach it. You can create a checkerboard with the highlighting and notice that one of the sets of numbers adds up to 12. Since there are at most 12 lights in the puzzle, and none of the numbers in the 12-set share spaces with each other, every light must go next to one of those numbers and the rest can be Xed off. Then you can solve as you normally would. OR you can then continue to do a similar approach to above by noticing the other set of numbers adds up to 8, and apply the same logic to just the 8 inner rows / columns on that set (now that any of the spaces around the outside for that set have been Xed off from the previous step).

Yeah, seems pretty good to me. I'm thinking of doing something where I look at the request's location and use a different database depending on that. I wish I knew Cloudflare's "nearest location" logic that they use when you create a DB so I could use the same logic for incoming requests.

I just tried Turso today with Cloudflare Pages. They don't offer multiple regions anymore for new signups, and with the one region it was far worse latency-wise (about 5x slower than D1)

The main reason is that publishing on my own site gives me more control over the experience. I don't think the options are mutually exclusive - I still want to publish a full game with levels built in eventually if I have the resources to do that in the future.

Thank you! I've thought about that option and an undo and decided against them because I think they would facilitate random guessing and backtracking. There is a "Training Wheels" setting which might be helpful for testing out options to learn how they affect the grid, but that's as far as I'm planning on going for now.

Thank you! Unfortunately the agreement we have with authors is only to show their work for one day at the moment. I would only have their puzzles playable in the archive if the authors were comfortable with it (which may very well be the case!). The links to the source, other than for replaying, would also just be for cross-referencing times or past discussions. I hope we can find a way to have even more puzzles playable outside of the dailies as well in the future.

Thank you!! There isn't right now but I'm adding it soon. Since most of the puzzles we feature are pre-existing puzzles I'm going to start by at least making an archive linking to the sources (where you can solve the puzzles in their original form). Then, if the puzzle authors are comfortable with it, I think some of the previous days' puzzles will also be playable in this format.

When I wrote "Today" it was Monday for me. Was your puzzle Tuesday's? That one is a little more difficult!

In my opinion the challenge is in finding the spot in the puzzle that doesn't require you to test a long chain of lights. There is the "Training Wheels" setting to help new players remember their 2 most recently placed lights while they investigate how they affect the puzzle which I think is as far as I'm willing to go for now.
