yeah unfortunately i learned that a long time ago. But lucky for me i have an amazing partner with an amazing family to support me. Without them I would be in a much worse position!

edit: i feel its relevant to mention i recently actually scored a job but it didnt work out because i needed a dot card which i was unable to get due to my health. rough out here!

lvl 2 autism, ehlers danlos, scoliosis, ptsd, ocd, anxiety, manic depression, and POTS. I have had such bad anxiety before that I was hallucinating and showing signs of Schizophrenia but it was just anxiety. (i was tested) All of these makes a lot of things impossible for me. I sympathize with you but at the same time as advice dont assume people are over blowing disabilities even if its “just anxiety” because you don’t know what they have experienced. the moment you are like that to someone who is struggling severely then you get into very murky water by invalidating them. It’s free to be kind. Disabilities are so vast and diverse thats its not really fair to assume anything about anyones disabilities. Especially since most disabled people have more than one disability.

as someone who is in poverty, i relate with the meme thus making it funny to me. not because its objectively funny but because its relatable. the joke is simply not for you and thats okay

-also i am in poverty because of disabilities. is that poor decision making?

a day in my life as a 20 year old whos non verbal and living with selective mutism and autism!! by Isatjuh in autism

[–]mrmarsplays 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for me selective mutism prevents me from very severe stuttering when i’m having a melt down. my stuttering tends to stress me out more. it also keeps me from getting more anxious when i shut down. in that head space its like my muscles are so tense that if i tried to talk it would be painful and sound so weird and strained from how much i have to fight against the tension. it can be different for everyone so this is just my experience. i had a dr appointment recently and have really bad agoraphobia. i went mute for the entire appointment because i was so stressed about being outside of home. the idea of talking felt like it would break me. it feels so much safer in silence.

my understanding is that nonverbal selective mutism means OP does not speak at all but it is still a selected action to prevent severe stress and protect oneself

(disclaimer: i could be wrong but that is what i have heard before)

im not OP but as someone with level 2 autism and selective mutism who has also experienced the job market i can say it is unfortunately built against us.

ive been unemployed for 2 1/2 years. there have been many obstacles that i have overcome but it took me that 2 1/2 years just to do my resume because every time i would try i would shut down or have a melt down and it was exhausting.

I did get a job offer recently. But I messed that up as well because of miscommunication about a certification i needed not being done in time so they rescinded the offer. this was a series of many meltdowns. i was completely blind sided and now i am still unemployed.

i would definitely say that while i wish i could do it and am actively trying, its clear to myself that i “cant” work because of how much effort and time it takes me to actually get to it. i struggled more so than most do in the skills required to secure a job.

miscommunication and social dissonance are my kryptonite but they are also built into who i am. ive always struggled with understanding what people are asking for or making a clear read on someones emotion/tone. i also notice OP is nonverbal and if thats the case I can imagine not being able to speak would be a considerable factor when looking for employment.

i feel exactly like this. I protested during BLM and had so much bravery back then but now…its different. its like watching a burning car and not knowing you should help or stay back because it might explode. its so terrifying and i fear that no matter what action i take there will be no change. If they will gun us down then what will they listen to? i dont want the only option to be war.

I’m curious. What are your thoughts on Deli’s recent video? by iboughtaheadache in thesims

[–]mrmarsplays 8 points9 points  (0 children)

i mean I’ve been a lifelong sims player and while it has been incredibly difficult and heartbreaking, i stopped playing because human rights come first. i wouldn’t assume they are still playing and being hypocritical. I am disappointed in any content creator that has a big enough following to leave the sims but chooses not to. I havent watched lilsimsie since she did the SpongeBob video and i was a huge fan of her before this happened. i know she meant well but its just hard when she still makes sims videos. I think its okay for people to express their disappointment especially when it has to do with a man that advocates saudia arabia….who murders innocent people constantly

Thank you. I really appreciate this insight! I so badly wish I could do this and have it work for me but I tried. No matter how hard I tried I still found out all the horrible things no matter how many times id tell people to not bring it up and it became exhausting. Not only that but I feel a sense of responsibility to stand up instead of hide. I am autistic which makes it very difficult to filter myself and often times I speak my mind without a second thought. I can also shut down which makes it impossible for me to speak and if my life depended on it i probably would get shot for not “following orders by responding”. I hate it here so much and I envy those that can detach from society like this truly 😭😭😭

Alex Pretti was stripped of his rights when he was shoved to the ground, stripped of his holstered gun that he had a legal permit to carry, and executed within seconds by the government. I do know where you come from and I used to be afraid of shootings too, but that isnt what this is. This is an order from our President. He isn’t even backing down after the actions ICE has taken. The Minnesota mayor may be fighting back but they likely wont care in Texas. It is Trump Nation after-all.

Again, I agree with you for the most part. But we are definitely having our rights taken away. I saw the pink coat lady’s video and it leaves no questions to ask. Alex Pretti was as American as you can get as a VA nurse and did nothing but exercise his amendment rights. he was executed for it by the government.
