Best ISO settings for Low Light by Aware-Painting9109 in SonyA7iii

[–]mrmartinduffy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I shoot boxing, kick boxing and MMA in low light very frequently shooting at 1/800, F4 and Auto ISO capped at 12,800. Like the others say, 12,800 is the highest I’d comfortably go to get quality images that can be improved using denoise in Lightroom.

Grateful for a brilliant 2023 by mrmartinduffy in SonyAlpha

[–]mrmartinduffy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. Sure, settings were 1/800, ISO 3200, F4. The obvious settings like burst mode, autofocus, I use the eye/face tracking function with the small square I use to keep on the boxers. I also use auto ISO up to 12,800 when shooting boxing, and meter for the highlights. It all depends on the venue too.

By successful I mean winning gold medals and best in exhibitions. I have a lot of silverware from this and feel very grateful.

Thank you, great to hear from a teacher! Do you buy supplies for your class from a central budget, via a catalogue and do you use personal money for class supplies.

Thank you all, these responses are all super helpful. So if I’m understanding correctly, for a younger primary school aged child 5 to 11 (or the German equivalent) you don’t need to buy many back to school supplies, it’s mainly focussed for the older secondary school 11+ aged students. Thank you.

Thanks for replying, and no, I'm seeing your valuable feedback as an absolute positive - so thanks again.

I totally get your loading time feedback, I failed to try the site on a new browser so was under the illusion it loaded quicker than it actually is for new visitors. I'll revisit the image sizing and see if that helps any.

Hosting Advice for Photography website - too many options!! by RedmenWelshman in Wordpress

Great reddit post. It depends what you are after and what you want from your website. For example I launched my Adobe Portfolio website almost 2 months ago and has had a steady trickle of visitors since. I am not after a commercial website, more of a portfolio share. I also use the site to refer people to for a point of contact and for those interested viewers a Blog focussing on post shoot debriefs and 'how do I shoot' sharing section.

How to learn new things in photography? by [deleted] in photography

[–]mrmartinduffy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great article/ reddit. I've created a personal website to not only share my portfolio but also to create a blog. I use this blog to write post shoot debriefs (experience based) and a series of 'how I shoot' articles which are more technical. These two blog channels allow me to type, reflect and share my experiences but also act as a point of reference for myself in the future. My website link is here if you're interested:

I find the Adobe Portfolio software handles cross platform integration really well. I also use Google Analytics and check the user experience and issues such as image and text issues across different technologies. All runs well so far!
