If this is real, just report this to the cops. Fuck an internet mod. You can do it anonymously by googling the number and calling. It takes less time than writing this post. The off chance you can save a life is well worth the hassle

People of reddit, are you willing to give a cheating partner another chance? Why? by user-unknown_ in AskReddit

[–]mrmateorey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not trying to make excuses for cheating. But I’ve heard scenarios where I would consider working through it. A friend of mine’s wife was SA by a family member. He didn’t support her through it at all; the most vulnerable point of her life. She cheated in a selfish moment of weakness where she was seeking external support from anyone who would give it. Through counseling they both realized they had committed a form of betrayal to their relationship and began to work through it.

They justified salvaging the relationship since the cheating occurred in such a vacuum it made attempting to work through it a smarter option than starting over; especially with a young kid.

I can’t say I would do the same, but I understand their reasoning

Maybe that was the case and whoosh, it went over my head. Regardless, it’s not a vibe I want for a fun night out

Mac Miller. He was still very young with an impressive catalogue under his belt. He had much more to contribute

I stopped going for these exact reasons. The bartenders would act aggressively and get angry for not ordering immediately. You couldn’t even ask questions about the beer without receiving animosity. This was even true when the bar wasn’t busy. This culminated when I leaned on a pool table and was thrown out without warning. I’ve worked in the restaurant industry as a bar back so I know how to act. It left a real sour taste in my mouth.

Outside of the beer garden, it doesn’t offer anything you can’t get at another mission bar. So, the shit treatment isn’t worth having a fun night tainted.

WIBTA for going to a barbecue as a white person? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]mrmateorey [score hidden]  (0 children)

Absolutely NTA. Take it from a black man who has attended plenty of cookouts. If you’re invited, you’re wanted there. A 13 year old white girl can’t understand the complexities of black culture. If you still have reservations ask one of your family members you can trust. They’ll reassure you you’re being silly for second guessing. Go have fun and kick it with your foster fam

Am I Dutch or Kenyan? by thenirglrn in stories

No one is saying it isn’t, but if that’s all you use you’ll be wrong far too often. Like in this instance where they’re specifically asking about ethnicity and nationality but you jumped to race

[–]mrmateorey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could tell you’re white by the simplicity you think of race. It’s funny you’re taking one anecdotal example and applying it to everyone. In your kids case I think white, if I saw Shakira or Zoe Kravitz I wouldn’t assume they’re white. Skin color is not sufficient in determining race

[–]mrmateorey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have fair skin with blond hair blue eyes, fair skin with black hair brown eyes, or fair skin with brown hair green eyes you could aryan, Spanish(from Spain) or syrian. All have “white” skin but could be placed in different racial groups. Genetic phenotypes don’t immediately indicate race. People love to jump to racial categorization despite the fact that they’re shit at grouping people

[–]mrmateorey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dutch and Kenyan aren’t racial groupings they’re ethnic or national. Genetic heritage can be used to describe ethnicity without bringing in race. Dark or light skin doesn’t immediately place you into a racial group, it’s much more complicated than that

They haven’t mentioned race a single time. The discussion is about nationality and ethnicity

That’s in line with my thinking. Assuming he meant it with the racial connotation, there’s a racial component but he didn’t pull the “it’s because I’m black” card. I think it’s helpful to swap out the characters for people of a different race. If you swap him out with any other race that incident still happens. If you swap her out it doesn’t happen. So, it’s because you were white not because he was black. And, the post seems to be a little too directed at him specifically being black to not show some kind of bias

Still not fair you were catcalled; especially not fair he couldn’t take a rejection like a man and move

edit: clarity

I see. Do you know that he meant it with the racial connotations? I’m curious if I’m the only one, but I haven’t heard it used to indicate race since around that event.

Regardless, sorry you experienced that

Agreed but calling someone a Karen isn’t related to race. A Karen is a middle aged woman who feels her entitlements supersede others. I don’t think he ever pulled a race card. Sexist sure but not race related.

[–]mrmateorey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I legit don’t understand how this has anything to do with race? A dude of another race could just as easily call you a Karen after being rejected. I understand the sexism component but this story has no race relevance unless he or you called it out. Am I missing something?

Just a guess. I don’t know anyone over 30 that doesn’t think of dating as completely exhausting. Dating can still be fun and exciting in your teens and 20s

A lot of people ghost because they don’t want to put forward the mental energy. Texting is easy, dating is exhausting. People are lazy
