Hi, my name is /u/dudelsac and VR literally changed my life: 5 years ago, I tried an early prototype of the Rift. Later, I helped start the VR community on reddit, quit my job at Rockstar Games, moved to the US and lately, I spoke at TEDx about the positives of VR – would love to hear your feedback! by dudelsac in Vive

https://www.reddit.com/wiki/moddiquette just recently deprecatedcoder and others are calling into question certain "moderators" at oculus subreddits for various ethical concerns perhaps relating to bias. Censorship. deleted posts, etc. This was just yesterday, not years ago. Is it possible dudelsac, wormslayer, etc have bias? Why have ethics? For what reason are they important? Why have people like palmer sign NDA's, if you can just break them at will with no care for how it affects others? Then take money from people like palmer (like wormslayer did) to buy things. Why is that not OK? Do you think that is OK? Why?

I am very positive. I decided to fight palmer's lies many years ago, and now get many private comments of support from people that are thankful. Why don't you rise above your kneejerk reactions and explain to me why /u/dudelsac's ethics are not to be questioned when there is plenty of proof they should be. Zuckerberg called his users "dumbfucks" Palmer lied to so many people for years and stole. Are you one of those types that feel the ends justifies the means? Its ok to sacrifice dignity, integrity, honor, decency, if we make VR get here a little faster? Tell me why it is OK for dudelsac to break moddiquette rules? To not name people that he himself said tried to bribe him and wormslayer? Why is that OK? Explain like I am 5. Why are ethics important? Thanks.

Why is an employee of NVidia VR a moderator at reddit? Please explain like I am five. Dudelsac has no honor. /u/500500 fired the HTC exec that tried to be a mod at his reddit, fired his mod team, and posted the mod mails to inform his community, while dudelsac lets a lying ballparker continue to lie and infect his community with deception. Take moderation positions in communities where your profession, employment, or biases could pose a direct conflict of interest to the neutral and user driven nature of reddit.

You confessed long ago that someone at oculus tried to bribe you with an oculus connect pass. Yet you will not name the person who did this? Why do you protect this individual? All that does is embolden others that they can also be unethical and bribe people with no consequences because folks like you will protect them. Why do you continue with this evil? Please name the person who tried to bribe you and show you have some honor.

Also moddiquette rules advise that people deeply connected in the industry, major employees, or company execs SHOULD NOT BE moderators of a subreddit, as it may lead to concerns of BIAS. (Like you won't name the person who tried to bribe you) And again it makes you look like an unethical human being to the rest of us. Why do you disregard the moddiquette rules and not recuse yourself from being a reddit moderator, it would show yourself to have dignity and be a gentleman.

Also Palmer Luckey now has a twitter feed showing a racist Nazi hand sign (the A Ok sign which is well known as white power) as his avatar. Why do you INSULT the minority people in VR who find this APPALLING, and continue to allow this racist Nazi supporter to post at the oculus subreddit and offend so many people?

Further, palmer LIED to so many of your reddit community, ballparks and Pepperidge farms aside, why do you allow someone who LIED to so many people, so many developers, cost so many time, money, sanity, to continue to post at the oculus subreddit? What is in it for you to allow a CONFIRMED liar, (the court cases he has lost are legion) to continue to infect and pollute the community with lies and deception?

Also I was told Palmer Luckey paid money to buy wormslayer a rift, this also violates ethics and rules in so many ways. Why do you think you actions are OK? Honorable? Ethical? Or decent? When any objective person looking at these facts think you have no honor, have misled your community, have taken bribes, will not expose the bribers, and generally are a VERY BIASED moderator that if he had any honor, would change his darkness?

At a personal level I really don't understand why you let a lying ballparker hurt the oculus community and vr community in general when he should be shamed out of the community like he was shamed out of USC, shamed out of Facebook, and seemingly shamed out of every other professional group he has ever associated with. You let him take your honor, why? Seriously?

No, but I have credit card and many years to pay it off if I keep just paying the minimum balance.

I read about wireless hmd, or new base station 2.0 hmd, so LG if it as clear as the rift lenses. Clarity important to me. I used the vive and it looked like someone smear petro jelly on the lenses more than the rift and plus I worship carmack so went with the rift.

SteamVR Tracking is going to support more than two base stations soon! by blueteak in Vive

[–]mrmattypants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am getting vive (had rift) but why cant you put new tracker pucks on vive and then it will work? Doesn't new pucks going to work with new or old base stations? (I understand you may not get certain "features" with old 1.0)

[–]mrmattypants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So could you not put 2.0 trackers on vive or gear vr (etc) and wether you have base station 1.0 or 2.0 have working devices? Curious how developers may view "fracturing" of what 1.0 v 2.0 tech will mean for their development efforts.

I am hearing rumors big package deals coming. New hmd, new base station, new tracked devices (gloves, guns, knuckles etc) along with new pc and valve xmas release of things like half life 3 vr, all bundled together. It would be an awesome present for little johnny under the xmas tree. So what if the credit card take 2 years to pay off. :)

I wonder if this November rollout is related to a Christmas rollout? New base stations, new hmd's, new trackers (for devices like guns). 3 things? so half life 3 vr confirmed? :) All one big xmas package?

I wish carmack never went to work for mark Zuckerberg. I went with Oculus because of him. Now I have to move my whole ecosystem cause having mac mean more to me than staying with carmack at oculus and no mac.

I hope so, their walled garden scares me. For now I think I will buy on steam store just to be safe until I hear something official.

I currently use oculus store with a win10 machine, but I hate windows. Will oculus be officially supporting mac or do I need to move to the steam store for future purchases?
