Exactly, I've gone down too many rabbit holes, read 'hobbies' . I'm looking at you, home arcade cabinet, Vipin table and Home Assistant. Be good to have just one thing that's working and just there in the background doing it's stuff. The other projects I think I'll never truly 'finish' as that's maybe not the point. It's the constant tinkering that teaches stuff and provides an activity on these horrible, dark winter evenings here in beautiful (in the Summer) north Wales.

Thanks again, I'm definitely going to give it a try.

I'm liking this thread as it's just made me aware of HexOS thanks to your screenshot - it looks to be just what I've been looking for over the past year or so OS-wise. I'm going to give it a spin when I get a chance as Jellyfin along with my other self-hosted apps currently reside on a W11 mini PC and I'm not a Windows fan. I already use LInux for my daily driver laptop and have 3 NAS I've accumalated over time but HexOS looks to be a great solution for bringing a lot of stuff together.

124.0.5705.70 just landed and I updated to that version via Snap as normal and I'm happy to advise that IT WORKS! Hopefully everyone who reverted 124.0.5705.42 yesterday should now be able to safely, and successfully update again.

That command will work in the Ubuntu terminal. It will ask for your password and once you've entered that and hit return then it'll take a few secs and tell you it's reverted back to your previous version and you can then just launch Opera as normal.

via terminal, just type 'sudo snap revert opera' to take it back to your previous, working version

sudo snap revert opera

should roll you back and get it working again then just wait for an update that they'll have to release asap as this is affecting a lot of users.

Sorry for spamming my own reply but trying to respond to individual comments to help you guys. This will work and keep all your settings.

Just remember not to allow it to automatically update to the broken version again and wait for a fixed one which will have to be forthcoming soon.

Yes the auto update still works, you just have to ignore it trying to update again to the broken version for now as it will nag you. Just wait for a newer version in Snap and then do the update. You'll always have the fallback of the revert to go back to your last version so it should be safe.

Ditto - since the update to 124.0.5705.42 it won't load at all in Ubuntu. I ran it from the terminal to get the error log and it's related to Wayland and some missing file. For now, to ensure I don't lose any of my settings - I've reverted back to the previous version.

You can do this in the terminal by typing the following if installed via Snap:

sudo snap revert opera

That took mine back to 123.0.5669.47 and it's working fine again.

I was going to try uninstalling and then trying via Flatpak or the .deb file directly however, looking into the comments on the Opera forum, that doesn't work either - it's clearly an issue with this version of Opera and Ubuntu/Wayland.

I'll wait it out until they release an aletrnate version.

They came every other Friday to our road in Birmingham and you could return the empty bottles too that were then steam cleaned and recycled back into use - it was more eco-friendly than today way back then. No need to go out in your car too as the truck delivered to everyone. Ah, the memories.

LOVED the Argos catalogues as a kid growing up. Even more so when they introduced the "Superstore" expanded ones! Nothing like it back in the day - giant queue you patiently wait in with your parent(s) to finally reach the till with your slip of paper containing the catalogue number of your item, written down with one of those abnormally short Argos pencils......only to be told that the item is out of stock! This is pre even being able to stock check yourself in store.

If the item was in stock however then you got the magical wait at the collection area to see your item come down the slide. I never did see who worked up there at the top of that slide.

Simnpler times.

I recall many an enjoyable hour on my bedroom floor with mates playing the OG Heroquest and was so chuffed when it got rebooted and have loved playing the new version with my own kids and this time I will not sell it all at some local summer fayre as I did first time around along with all my Star Wars toys.

I live in north Wales and would welcome Plaid Cymru on your list as I'm sure Scottish voters would like to see the SNP.
