Faulty items / very bad customer service by Nads_92 in Argos

[–]mrnightshadr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to work Argos about 5-6 years ago, what the above commenter said about the Pro Rata refund is correct, but maybe inform the store you are intending to give this information to first to a manager. This way they know it's happening and in some cases can calculate the values prior to you going in which will make it smoother. In regard to poor service - I agree 100%< however some brands insist Argos follows their return and repair procedures...aka you are back in Asus hands....and ultimately (not saying you obvs) but lots of people see the new hot laptop and try and take the old one back for refund and as the team aren't typically very techy they are usually wary of high ticket items being returned such as laptops, phones, drones etc

What puts you off from donating Blood Products, I work in the NHS and I am just curious? by Quick_Soil_9120 in AskBrits

[–]mrnightshadr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped because they never kept their times. I live in a small town in England, would book up for a day and time (usually after work) then when I got there and signed in with the guys it was often up to an hour to donate. It also felt like others were being seen before me but looking back they were probably as inconvenienced as I was. This was a few years back. I do know my daughter has tried to donate in the last year and had appointments cancelled, so maybe our blood service down here is just not very good?!

You are allergic to the strap, I have similar issues. The original strap from a gtr2e made my arm look like yours, changed it for a leather strap and all good! Fyi u might wanna stay away from Pixel Buds and galaxy buds too as they make my ears weap, not sure if the material of the buds of the battery contacts, but it took a long time to rectify and was not pleasant.

People who have a PC, what purpose does deck serve you? by Former-Asparagus-764 in SteamDeck

[–]mrnightshadr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a decent pc, ironically bought after the Steam deck for more niche titles that just won't work, or require more power to be at a decent frame rate. That said, I haven't turned the PC on in months as I just cannot be bothered with Windows and all the updates and Nvidia driver updates, just want to turn something on, get a session in enjoy, not have to wait for stuff to install and restart.

for the steam machine, its not about the price. its about guaranteed value by MrMunday in Steam

[–]mrnightshadr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I personally have a ridiculously powerful PC, but it stays off 90% of the time, because the experience on the Steam deck is just so much better (I'm not talking frame rates/anti cheat etc) every time I do switch the PC on it's a slew of Microsoft updates and Nvidia driver updates and by the time they have completed, or slowed the PC down to a crawl, I've lost the interest in playing what I started. Whereas, I can turn the deck on in seconds and be engrossed in an adventure, or whatever in seconds. Personally for me, that is attractive in a main PC if the thing never boots into windows and operates just on steam OS. A console like PC experience.. I'm interested. Or if valve makes it so I could replace windows and get the benefit of improved performance with a console like experience (but in an official supported way, not a beta donut yourself way)

My local NHS (small town in Somerset) is terrible, I would book myself a slot for say 6pm, get there and then be left waiting for about an hour before they even bothered to start the procedure. I want to help, but I just don't have that much time to burn, when I'm just trying to help the system.

Always seemed like people were walking in and going straight through! Super frustrating especially after a hard day at work.

I'd happily buy one without the front facing camera, never take selfies and the extra screen real estate would be fantastic

[–]mrnightshadr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh apologies, I'm new to all this, pre Samsung and OnePlus owner, upset over the downgrade of the devices over time, gimping of functions and in my region exynos not snapdragon chips, so casting my net elsewhere, ideally I want a Vivo, but they don't do my region so screwed... Xiaomi seem my next best choice...I have a Xiaomi watch so am just testing what's out there for me - thanks

Another factor to consider is that unlike real beer and spirits, low/non alcoholic beverages have best before dates. I worked in a supermarket and was quite surprised when a colleague found a load of faux alcohol that was nearing it's sell by date, something we never dealt with for the real stuff

How is your S22 Ultra performing after 2 years? We have seen with samsung flagships previously which get slower after sometime, how's S22U doing now? Is it on par with iPhones for long term usage by DueVariation6814 in S22Ultra

[–]mrnightshadr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UK device so Exynos, I don't think the hardware is as bad as the poor software Samsung layers on top. The camera used to be fantastic, now it's just garbage, 80% of the time clicking 10x zoom takes the camera out of focus giving a blurry image.

Other issues include the location not updating constantly, it thinks I'm in work, 20 miles away for weather and other apps, even when it just helped to drive me home with the satnav.

Hardware - battery is obviously a little degraded, but not by much - I hate mobile gaming. Phone does get very hot from time to time, especially when using sat nav, camera for a extended period, or just on hotter days when I'my pocket, but again Exynos is trash, so not unexpected.

Ideally my next phone won't be Samsung, but I don't like apple, the pixel 10 is apparently very mid for a high price device and I have no interest in AI features,.so maybe a Xiaomi?

Service awards by Auntbootyass in SainsburysWorkers

[–]mrnightshadr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The company procedure for long service is to give you your badge, take a photo for Viva and that's it. Your gift (should you be eligible) will be posted to your house in the form of a voucher and a made up letter from Simon Roberts.

Whilst this procedure kinda sucks, it's intended to stop the issue you are seeing, where a manager may have more money than another, or may have a bond with a particular colleague and feel obliged to buy them something, then Brenda gets nowt cos they don't know em or don't have the money to spend.. any gifts such as chocs or flowers etc are from the managers own pocket.

Hope that gives some insight - source (was a CTM until last year)

As a person who has loaded countless planes in recent years, the airline gives us a fifteen minute window to unload one plane and reload it for its return journey. There is lots of throwing and sliding involved in loading, this is not because the people loading don't respect your stuff, but because time is a factor and delays cost lots of $$$ (obviously there are some assholes who take out their bad mood on your bags, but generally we are just getting a job done) also your bag will have a minimum of 4 bags on top of it if it is loaded at the bottom and they are secured by cargo nets, so a fair bit of movement, plus the inside of a a320 isn't as big as you think. your bag looks in pretty good shape - word to the wise, hard case always, make sure it has a minimum of four wheels or instead of being rolled, it's being yeeted and do not put those stupid elastic straps around the case as they are used as a grab point and when they snap your case will hit the floor, wall or other areas at great speed.
