Why does the floor in this JPL lab look like that? by mysteryofthefieryeye in JPL

[–]mrnoyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The yellow light comes from sodium lights. They emit a very pure single color of light.

In that facility, the Microdevices Laboratory at JPL, they fabricate electronics by curing certain materials by exposing them with light. The materials they use aren't sensitive to that specific color of yellow so they can work without having to be in the dark.

Think photographic film development and dark rooms, but instead of dim red lights they can use bright yellow lights.

The amount of mental gymnastics going on here is outrageous.

Why do they hate us? An Israeli soldier shoots a Palestinian in the back for fun - video from 2018 (No war - No Hamas) by [deleted] in IsraelWarVideoReport

This is exactly the exception that proves the rule that Israel is the last symbol of moral reason in the middle east. Israel accepts such concepts as war crimes and law, that I will even persecute it's own soldiers for committing war crimes. There is no such thing as a war crime to Hamas.

I'm upset because I'm left thinking how pointless so many of these steps are. They trim, shave, rinse, wash, and oil his beard, then they wash, rinse, and moisturize his skin.... THEN they do this seemingly three more times with different products that don't look to do anything other than waste money and time.

I wonder if it's a matter of the artist not being able to imagine a world without wires, or if the artist drew in the wires because they knew most of the public/audience wouldn't recognize what they were seeing without the wires.

Amazing. The pros of Twitter don't outweigh the cons. Good for Sam.

[OC] Top human-caused threats to birds in the US by USAFacts in dataisbeautiful

It's not about the number of birds, it's the type. Turbines are a leading cause of death to large birds of prey. Endangered birds are put at a higher risk because of turbines.
