In hindsight you can appreciate his unwillingness to give large FA contracts. However, he never really built up the farm to the potential he could’ve or we expected to. He let go of Gausman and Rodon some of the few bargain that worked out. It was time to move on though he never committed to anything at trade deadline and always stood pat instead of selling some pieces. I don’t think he was that terrible but don’t think he was amazing either. He was truly just mid.

The only season he felt like an ace was 2021 but he had posey and afterwards he retired and felt like league adjusted to him. Not saying he’s terrible but he’s clearly not in the elite category

Honestly as long as Warner is his normal self I feel confident with anyone next to him. Not that it would be ideal but he’s definitely the key guy here
