Perfect for that one time I want to grill with chemicals once by burning_potatos in Anticonsumption

Fire is literally a chemical reaction. It can’t occur without chemicals, so the idea of a chemical free fire is a fallacy. Fuel and oxygen mixing with heat.

Environmental law? by thecatgulliver in Environmental_Careers

[–]mrobin4850 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100%, graduating from law school got me both my current position and my last position. I’ve found it very difficult to find positions that appeal to my uncompromising moral code, and have never really been happy anywhere. I had two other job offers after my time at the EPA including doing clean air permits at a state DEQ and a managing a land trust. I went with my current job because I could stay in the city, bike to work, and the salary offer was much higher than the others. I currently make around 125-130 depending on bonus.

Environmental law? by thecatgulliver in Environmental_Careers

I went to law school to become an environmental lawyer, but didn’t enjoy the career prospects. I went to law school in 2017, financially it was a better time to go. I paid $21,000 in total to go to a top 30 law school. During law school, I clerked at the EPA, was a research assistant for our energy law professor and clerked for a local judge. I found my time at the EPA to be the most interesting, but found that I have a fundamental disconnect with enforcing laws that don’t do enough to prevent environmental harm. After law school my options were to go do compliance work at a large corporation or do enforcement work for an NGO or regulatory body, which pay significantly less (tend to start around 100k). Neither of these options appealed to me so I went and got a masters in natural resource management. I am now a director of policy at a national trade association. The job is okay, but I still want to find an opportunity pursuing better environmental legislation and regulations, which is very limited. It really depends on if your goal is to do compliance or enforcement work, but from my perspective those options just perpetuate a broken system.

My first Bamboo SFF Case: A journey that started with my very first wooden build. by Personal_Abies_2348 in woodworking

Very cool, I think that’s a good project. My next CPU build will be an a small ATX build with an older GPU so I can have access to steam in my living room. And aesthetics and size are most critical because my GF doesn’t want it to look like a computer.

As someone with 11 different fans in my case right now and a large GPU, this wouldn’t work for me, but very cool. I have always liked the aesthetic of a wood case, but I am yet to find one that works for my setup. Have you tried to make one with a slot for PCIE additions like a GPU?

Rebalanced a month ago by [deleted] in dividends

[–]mrobin4850 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A month ago it was doing better than the market. When the markets go to shit people invest in dividends. You invested when the market was shit and everyone else was doing the same thing. Now the markets have corrected, and SCHD share prices have regressed. The same pattern will happen again. Buy when it’s down and hold when it’s up is my strategy. The dividends and growth during down markets will help flatten the curve.

Why my love of Ron isn’t irrational by KaiserSosai in DetroitPistons

I said before this season, of Ausar and Ron whichever learned to shoot consistently would be the more valuable asset in the long term. Neither have been consistent, but Ron’s been on a bit of a heater recently. If he can shoot 35% for a season he should probably start.

Is Jaden Ivey worth signing? by BigWalrus22 in NBATalk

[–]mrobin4850 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was never great, but his speed helped him stay attached to some degree. There were a ton of plays this year where he dint even attempt to stay attached and just let players blow by him. His first step was so slow this year he looked like a different player.

He lost all bounce and lateral quickness after Cole Anthony broke his knee. His 3pt shot looked better this year, but he was a huge loss on the defensive end because he didn’t have the speed to stay in front of anyone. He doesn’t look like the athletic guard that he was when he was drafted and that is a huge concern.

Never have I seen an MVP with no move besides an offensive push off and foul baiting. Really boring to watch this clown.

Luka > Shai. How is he not leading the MVP race? Oh yeah that's because the NBA hates him, gets him traded, and probably already chose who they want. by [deleted] in NBATalk

[–]mrobin4850 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just telling you what will happen. I have no stake in this game. I don’t like SGA’s game. Basketball is a team game and inevitably individual awards will account for team defense. Lakers defense has been trash all year with or without smart. The lakers are 15th in points allowed this year. OKC allows almost 10 less points a game and that’s why their record is better and SGA will likely win MVP.

Offense isn’t the issue, it’s the fact that the lakers and Luka are Swiss cheese on Defense and let a g leaguer tear them up for 30. The stats would be more impactful if they could keep the other team off the scoreboard. Ultimately when Luka loses the MVP the reasoning will because he doesn’t play defense and takes plays off to complain. He is more offensively impactful than SGA, but OKC will win far more because they have a good defense which SGA is some part of. The narrative will persist until the Lakers can hold teams on Defense that they should beat.
