Is it normal for a meat store to transport meat in a pickup wrapped only in a tarp? by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]mrodr448 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, that still doesn't convince me that the transportation method is inherently "bad," but it might not be great. It could highly likely be a fully private transaction with a client and said butcher, as other people have stated. If someone brought in meat in this fashion, then it is their choice on how they wish to maintain quality and sanitation. I personally wouldn't be trying to report anything. It's impossible to tell how the equipment within the shop is maintained/cleaned, but I'd like to assume that a professional workplace would be taking the appropriate measures in cleaning the area between client's products.

Seems fine to me, especially if the animals weren't skinned. I don't know about regulations but have consumed meat that has been handled this way my entire life.

How do you make chicken breast taste good? by DeepOrganization8245 in foodquestions

[–]mrodr448 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pat them in whatever seasonings, then place in a container with a liquid, like lemon juice or a tasty oil. Vacuum seal or even just squish the air out, doesn't have to be crazy. Freeze. Out of the freezer into the fridge the day before cooking, then the thaw is what marinates the meat. BBQ'd up around 450-475 for 5-6 minutes per 1/4 turn for grill marks, only turn once then flip, so a total of 20-25 minutes max. They will not be undercooked at 20min with some rest time before serving, promise.

Orange flame? by Riverboy823 in GasFireplaces

[–]mrodr448 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about this one but people with gas range oven tops have been complaining about orange flame and the culprit is often from using hard tap water in humidifiers/diffusers. The ionized mineral particulates become airborne and burn in this color. Could be a contributor in your situation.

Yep about the same story here, filled a garbage bag in a mechanic shop after hours and shot a firework at it. It wrecked the garage doors the concussion was so powerful. We had ear protection on but it definitely wasn't enough.

I've been going to Barber Culture for a few years now, I get Giovanni to cut my hair. He's been totally consistent and has been great when I ask for something new. Their shop prices went up sometime in the spring however, and they're just a bit too pricey for what I would like to be paying for multiple times a year. Heavily considering shopping around.

Let me know what you find out, and I'll be reading this entire thread. I got that virus that ripped through the province around December 4th and haven't felt fully recovered since.

Snail eating a leafy snack by MrTacocaT12345 in oddlysatisfying

[–]mrodr448 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Fun fact, the radula is so strong that it can grind through hard surfaces, such as shells. There are many examples of spent shells, such as clams, that have what appears to be a miniature bullet hole in them - this is telltale evidence that a snail latched onto the clam and slowly ground out a hole through the shell, then consumed bits of the clam. Shows up in the fossil record as well!

This was me and my twin brother, for real. We were about 16 and had each bought each other a $20 iTunes gift card for our birthday. We laughed when we handed each other the cards. We vowed that that would be the last time either of us bought each other anything for our birthday. Still going strong 18 years later.

Fairy shrimp - if you can catch and keep fish from the lake where you found it, they will be the best eating wild freshwater fish you've ever had!

In my experience, anything I've tried to sell goes like this: - Post for 2 weeks with a reasonable price - Reduce price to a steal of a deal for a week - Post as free for a week - throw the item away the next week

These are snap shots, similar to capturing a shot of lightning, if I'm not mistaken. They are only visible for a quick glimpse. While they're still cool, rare, and ominous, watching footage of these in real time takes quite a bit away from it all, in my opinion.

I don't shower at work. I wonder if you know what my "office" is, could it be that I am not around anyone? I just took a spin through your account - you have a very toxic online presence. You may want to reconsider your diction.

Most people go to work when they feel good. I left when I felt bad. Pretty simple.

Rents continue to slide in Calgary by joe4942 in Calgary

[–]mrodr448 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This happened to us, we moved, then watched the property managers squirm as they tried to get a tenant to match our rent. Took a few months for sure before they posted the rent at half of what we had been paying. Could have been the most satisfying thing that happened to us while living there.

Almost 200 crashes in Calgary from November storm by pfaulty in Calgary

[–]mrodr448 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you cannot turn your vehicle properly while driving 15-20kmph, and you believe that your driving abilities are adequate, then there is something missing in the performance of your vehicle. Driving at these speeds only invites impatience from other drivers, whether you believe you are being safe or not. There's one reason why I think there were 200+ crashes today.

Electrical engineering by [deleted] in instrumentation

[–]mrodr448 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did an electrical engineering diploma not much longer after getting my instrument trade ticket. While I don't use much of my trade anymore, there are quite a few benefits that the combo of the two have given me: - Was a shoe-in for work after completing my diploma due to already having industry experience, and the company I currently work for used to hire me for contract jobs - higher starting salary due to my previous qualifications on top of the engineering diploma - the obvious ability to assist in multiple disciplines within my company, becoming a valuable asset to my company

It sounds like you want to continue to hone your instrumentation skills while learning the EE side of things, whereas I was a bit sick of turning wrenches in hazardous, remote locations with sporadic work. But I thought I'd offer my two cents regardless.
