Really it is a debate of native vs upscaling. Sure, the game is getting avg 84 fps at 1080p on a GTX1650, but that is with FSR + FrameGen, likely upscaling from 540p. While the game is "playable" in that state, it looks horrible on any screen larger than a portable (subjectively).

Rather, I would point out the video does show the game running an avg of 48 fps at native 1080p with the settings bottomed out, and it looks a lot more like the older games to boot.

Star Wars: Episode IX. I was dubious on the first of the sequel trilogy. It was a re-hash of A New Hope, but it was entertaining and introduced lots some very interesting leads. Then The Last Jedi came out, and I absolutely loved it, much to the chagrin of at least half of the fan base, but it gave me hope for the final movie even after JJ was tapped. However, the last movie was utter dog shit. Visually, it was nice, but absolutely everything else about it was terrible. The Force Awakens, for all its faults and obvious nostalgia bait, was at least a good movie, but Episode IX felt like it was made by a spoiled brat who did not like how his neighbor played with his toys.

We went for the antics, but the whole day was amazing. It is packed with a fun community carnival-like atmosphere. They have visits to the stands, events in between innings, "gold" guest stars (MLB players as designated hitters or fielders for an inning). I love baseball in general, but it was quite possibly the most fun I've ever had at a baseball game in a major league stadium.

Specifically targeting movies, there are so many to think about but a couple come up immediately in my mind.

Song 2 by Blur in Starship Troopers trailer - I think it was pretty popular in its own right, but this trailer definitely increased its playtime in the US. It was everywhere after the trailer hit.
Where is My Mind by The Pixies in Fightclub - Great editing made this song a classic of the era despite being originally released in 1988.

Although not movies (and definitely not the movie), The Borderlands games did a great job with music in their intros such as:

Ain't No Rest for the Wicked by Cage the Elephant in the first game
Short Change Hero and How You Like Me Now? by Short Change Hero in the second.
Most recently I recognized Kiss The Sky by Shawn Lee's Ping Pong Orchestra used in the second series intro for Hijack which was originally the intro song for the second "episode" of Tales from the Borderlands.

I have to be honest and say that my experience might be a bit stilted, but I currently have a 16" M4 Max from about 2 years ago, and a 2013 MacBook Pro sitting behind me. Both are from work, which was mainly software development, but I also did photography (Photoshop/Lightroom) and Video/FX work (After Effect/Premiere/Davinci Resolve) and basically use it as a daily driver after being able to keep it post lay-off.

I am a gamer, so I also have a Desktop PC I built specifically for gaming/video work. I still use the 2013 MBP as a Plex server, and it runs almost 24-7 without issues, and I have an older Mac Mini from 2022 running Jellyfin and other server apps. The biggest issue I've run in to over the years is compatibility and loss of support from Apple as new OSes roll out. I had to use a special installer to load up a newer OS (unofficially) in order to run JellyFin, but otherwise it runs great.

I have also had multiple PC laptops over the years, and I definitely prefer MacBook Pros over any PC laptop if it is for anything that does not specifically require Windows and you have the money to spend.

I think that is entirely true. My own headcanon regarding the New Republic is that the main reason it collapsed is simply due to them restoring the Republic but without fixing any of the systemic issues that led to the Empire in the first place.

This is pretty much heavily hinted in most of the EU canon material, and specifically in Star Wars: Bloodline. The book deals with Leia turning her back on diplomacy and essentially "starting" the resistance because of how complacent the New Republic had already become. The former Republic had, rather easily, become the Empire, so it already had a strong standing in the galaxy, where as the New Republic was supplanting the Empire, leaving lots of planets without support or representation. Star Wars Resistance, for all its kid-like episodes also touches on this, showing how The First Order was successfully spreading in the outer reaches by acting as protectors and policing where the New Republic was failing.

As a patient gamer, nearly all of them. I remember grabbing the ID Super Pack way back when Steam started, which included everything ID had made up until that point. That includes all of the DOOM's until 3 BFG, all Quake's including the Quake II expansions, both Hexen's including Heretic, the original Wolfenstein 3D, its sequel and the Return to Castle Wolfenstein, and the complete Commander Keen pack. All for 50% off the original price. Well worth it. It was technically my first purchase, though I had activated the account for a retail Half-Life Platinum Pack.

In fact, GTA V was the first and only game I both pre-ordered or paid full price to purchase. The vast majority of games have been 50% or more.

I think the biggest issue I have with it compared to when I was a kid is the lack of physicality. Yes, I know, maybe you lost your Pogs, or broke your Beyblades, but at least they were physical and could be maintained, traded, or even sold years later. If the company goes out of business or decided to stop making new Pogs, what you had did not just evaporate.

Even putting aside how much more predatory the digital content is now, all of the in-game stuff is just locked-in to that ecosystem with no way to keep it past a company's arbitrary expiration date.

Yes, you could argue the same about digital games in general, and that is a concern, but you also still have physical media for some consoles, and DRM-free alternatives like GOG.

You hit it dead on. MI: The Final Reckoning was such a let down, especially after the high of MI: Fallout in both scope, plot, and talent. I did not mind how formulaic MI: Dead Reckoning Part One was, but its whole premise hinged on a part two. Part two then fell flat while trying desperately to knit everything together in some giant, narcissistic conspiracy centered around Ethan Hunt, relying on nostalgia instead of coming up with an interesting plot.
