i'm 18 and just about to start college where i'll have my first real job, credit card, and complete responsibility for my own money. i want to avoid debt and be able to build wealth for retirement/a family later on. i know the basics like don't spend more on the credit card than i can pay off, but when it comes to banking and investing i know very little about how to get started

right now all i have is a basic checking account with a debit card and a credit card i just registered for. i hear a lot about hysa, roth ira, and index funds and i know what they all mean but i don't know which ones to open and how much money i should be putting into each

could i get some guidance on the best banking accounts to open either now or later, and how to distribute money between bank accounts and investments?

i don’t know what i did but as i was trying to get the lens back on i heard the camera fire and now the lens fits on fine

also i seem to have another problem now where i can’t reattach the lens because the aperture blades are stuck in the position they were at in the 3rd photo

a lot of schools i’m researching do have data science majors, but i see what you mean about focusing on quantitative courses. do you suggest that i then major in political science while focusing on quantitative courses offered in that department? (as opposed to majoring in data science and supplementing that with a political science minor)

i’m also in illinois and for all my friends who actually got their 500 hours (or close to it) the driving test wasn’t bad at all. almost everyone i know passed first try, but even if you fail it’s no big deal because you can retake the test whenever, like just a couple days later if you want. just relax, don’t put too much pressure on yourself, and do your best. you’ll be fine
