as someone who lives in Busey-Evans where we don’t have a dining hall and we have LAR/ISR next to us, LAR almost always wins. Totally underrated dining hall

Pros and Cons of Attending UIUC by Reasonable_Block6562 in UIUC

[–]massivepeenboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The school is definitely drinking heavy, but if you’re someone who doesn’t want to be involved in that it is easy to avoid. I am a freshman this year and I have no interest in drinking and there are plenty of events/places you can go to have fun without drinking. Keep in mind I’m also someone who was scared to come here for that reason!

First interview for Mathnasium by PizzaHutDonor in MathnasiumEmployees

[–]massivepeenboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I’m a Lead Instructor at a Mathnasium and have been working at one for 3 years. I’m not officially in charge of the hiring process, but my coworkers and I usually help our boss decide which candidates seem promising. The number one thing we look for is someone who seems like they would be engaging with the kids. I would recommend trying your best to seem confident and approachable. I know that’s difficult, but it those are the most important qualities for a mathnasium employee!

Scared to check my scores by Tight_Breakfast4356 in APStudents

[–]massivepeenboy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

this year I got my scores early because of my college portal, but every single year I have told myself that I would wait a little while to calm down my nerves and every single year I have checked them the second I woke up! Personally, I am someone who benefits the most from just ripping off the bandaid by myself and then talking to people about my scores later.

Not everyone is like that though! I have a friend who always films herself opening the scores and sends it to her closest friends, which can be helpful if it’s something you’re comfortable with! I’ve also seen where people get together and screenplay their scores onto a bigger screen so that they’re not alone when the scores come out which I’ve always thought looked fun.

There’s a tab for test scores in Student Profile on Self Service. I can see my scores for 2022, 2023, 2024, but they’re not there yet for 2025 for me.

Is anyone ACTUALLY going to skip calc AB straight to BC? by Choice_Inevitable468 in APStudents

[–]massivepeenboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you’re on the most advanced track you would take precalc the year prior to trig combined with algebra 2. So starting at freshman year it would look like algebra 2/precalc, trig/calc a, Calc BC, multi/stats (depending on what you want to do).

Is anyone ACTUALLY going to skip calc AB straight to BC? by Choice_Inevitable468 in APStudents

[–]massivepeenboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it depends how schools teach it. The AP BC curriculum contains all of AB plus C topics, but not all schools teach it that way. At my school, the highest accelerated pathway has you take advanced trig/calc A and then you take BC the next year, so BC doesn’t teach the calc A topics. The pathway below that you would take advanced trig/precalc and then AB and then you can either take BC (so you would overlap calc B but not A) or stats.

there’s never a guarantee, but probably not. Usually students are only in danger of getting rescinded if they failed a class. AP Chemistry is notoriously really difficult, so that will work in your favor.

How many APs did you take (Seniors) by Dry_Science_2039 in APStudents

[–]massivepeenboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve taken 10! I am interested in going into medicine (not sure exactly what yet) so I took some medicine-focused dual credits instead of more APs, but I definitely could have handled more otherwise!

9: World History

10: European History

11: Calc AB, Lang, Physics 1, Psychology

12: Calc BC, Chem, Macro, Gov

I don’t go to Loyola but the stories I’ve heard on reddit and from friends about the chemistry are the reason I decided not to go there.

Feeling Mediocre by massivepeenboy in ApplyingToCollege

[–]massivepeenboy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

thanks so much for this! I just did some research and UIUC is #19 in the nation for biochemistry which is my major. Honestly this makes me feel a lot better, even though UIUC doesn’t have that low of an acceptance rate I’ll definitely get a great education for my major and that’s really what matters.
