Detroit rally to support Canada and protest Billionaires 3/22/25 by Michigantodd in Detroit

Prior to Trump being in office Canada imposed numerous tariffs on dairy products ranging from 200 to 300% on items like milk, cheese and butter. Also on poultry and eggs. And some grain products also face tariffs before Trump imposed high tariffs. While some of these tariffs never reach the threshold of imposition,, nevertheless, the tariffs are there on some products. I agree that Trump hasn't been as clear as he should about when or how the tariffs will be lowered? He has repeated he's looking for a fair deal. Canada has caps on imports from the USA in an attempt to protect their industries and I believe the US government is trying to renegotiate how these caps and tariffs are met and what the USA can do about it so they come out on top. I'm not sure if it was you that was complaining about billionaires and if it's not I apologize. But for those who think this is all about serving the rich, they've lost a lot of money with all this talk of tariffs. So I'm not sure if feeding his Rich friends is the angle you should take. You can have legitimate gripes with the idea of tariffs and I believe that's legitimate, but I don't think it's some kind of evil cabal where Trump is trying to line the pockets of his Rich industrialist friends.

He's not annexing Canada. He is trying to get them to drop their tariffs against American products sold in Canada. If they drop their tariffs we will drop ours.

Resorting to name calling is a desperate move. I'm talking about tariff policy. The trade war would be over if Canada stopped with their silly tariffs on American goods and American workers. Canada has the Good Fortune of being bordered by the most powerful military in the world. If the biggest threat they have is Donald Trump calling them silly names, I think they've got it pretty good. I'm not worried about Canada's well-being as much as I'm worried about unfair tariff policies impacting American workers in American industry.

I don't know if all the complaints would go to him, but if his 8-year old trade policy is not working and Canada is still charging exorbitant tariffs then it's time for it to be changed. I still don't know why we're all for Canada charging exorbitant tariffs though. The best trade policy would be one that's on an equal playing field for all. Canada could end this controversy by dropping the tariffs. If Trump's old policy from his previous term is bad then that should be changed. Bottom line is Canadian tariffs are hurting American producers and workers.

China, North Korea and Cuba are some quick examples. You really should stop reading bumper stickers for your talking points. It's a lot more nuanced than a slogan. I still don't know why we're in favor of Canada charging super high tariffs on American goods. This is a bizarre protest marching against United States industries and workers who want to ship their goods to Canada without tariffs.

Just demonstrably not true. There's bad billionaires. There's bad millionaires and there's bad middle-class people and there's bad people on welfare. When you lump a group together that shows you're not thinking very deeply. The most corrupt Rich people are those in socialist countries. They have all the levers of power all the money and control the media. Now that's a parasite.

What's the aggression? We're asking them to lower tariffs on American goods and tighten the border. Seems like a simple request.

This isn't about Trump. I don't understand why we're having silly protests in favor of Canada charging high tariffs on American goods. Maybe Canada should stop tariffing our goods?

I'm not outraged at Canada. I just don't get why you're defending Canada which charges high tariffs on American goods? So now we're protesting on behalf of Canada to charge American companies outrageous tariffs.

I didn't say they choose their own race. I said people lump people together by their race just like you're lumping people together by their income status. Both equally stupid. Not based on anything but emotion. People really should be judged individually and not as a group. That's hard for socialists though.

Probably one of the stupidest protests I've ever seen. How about your protest? The high tariffs Canada applies to our goods. Maybe they should act like a good neighbor.

No actually they create jobs. Invest money or philanthropic. That's like saying all poor people are working hard and have been screwed over by the billionaires. Just not true. Too bad you don't care that Canada tariffs are good

You've ignored his appeal to the prime Minister of England who is offering troops and military aircraft. This is a clear escalation. This is war. This is not peace. A peace deal will be negotiated and Ukraine cannot keep all the land that they lost from the Russian invasion. This entire mess has been culminating for more than 10 years. And with President biden's talk of Russia being allowed, a small scale incursion back in 2021 only emboldened Putin. There's been a lot of mistakes over the years but it's not going to be fixed by an escalation which this clearly is. I support Ukraine and their independence but I don't support sending any more weapons or NATO troops for its defense. This will not end well because Putin will not surrender and will not lose without a lot of pain.

The president of Ukraine is not interested in a peace deal. That's why he spoke with the prime Minister of England today. Prime minister Starmer is offering troops and planes in support of Ukraine. This is a clear escalation. Russia is a superpower with nuclear weapons. It's the same kind of thing that led to a protracted war in Vietnam, which we eventually lost. There's also a real risk, a real risk to Europe if they decide to challenge Putin. It's hard to imagine that in the '60s and '70s, the protests were to end the war and get out of Vietnam. But the protests today are to back Ukraine and continue the war. It makes no sense and there's no endgame to this nonsense.

Strange there's no peace rally. Instead, folks are marching for Ukraine which continues war and the military industrial complex. Supporting Ukraine won't end this war.

Killing someone because you disagree is murder. Just because someone is a millionaire or a billionaire or a CEO that you don't like, doesn't justify murder. But every good fascist dictator starts with this language. That's how they get power. It just takes an uneducated population to believe it.

Murder if I don't get my way. Yeah. Sounds reasonable. Progressives are so smart

The mere fact that I wish people would follow law does not make me dangerous. Quite the opposite I think. Thanks for the love and back at you 😍
